ACCT Philly Receives $70,000 Grant from the Foxwynd Foundation to Support Lifesaving Animal Rescue Programs ACCT Philly, the only animal care and control service provider and open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia , is thrilled to announce it has been awarded a $70,000 grant from the Foxwynd Foundation. This grant, awarded through the Foxwynd Foundation’s Donor-Advised Fund, will enable ACCT Philly to make a bigger impact on the lives of the animals who come through our doors. “The Bentley family is proud to support ACCT Philly with this grant, as we believe in their mission to provide critical resources and care for homeless and abandoned animals. This partnership is a testament to our shared commitment to saving lives and strengthening our community." — Pamela Villagra, Executive Director, Foxwynd Foundation With nearly 18,000 animals cared for annually, ACCT Philly operates as an open-intake shelter, accepting every animal in need while also providing resources to owners to try to help them keep their pets out of the shelter. However, the shelter is currently facing a 30% increase in dog intake compared to last year, making this grant all the more crucial. "This grant will enable us to make a bigger impact on the lives of the animals who come through our doors," said Sarah Barnett, Executive Director of ACCT Philly. "With more dogs arriving daily, the need to move animals out of the shelter quickly has never been greater. This funding will allow us to enhance our foster and rescue programs, giving more animals a second chance at life." The grant will be allocated to several key areas. Firstly, it will help in providing more supplies for potential foster families, encouraging greater participation in the program. Additionally, it will provide behavioral, medical, and other support to make more animals able to go into foster care. The funding will also be used to expand advertising and promotional efforts, increasing awareness about ACCT Philly's services and encouraging the public to adopt, foster, volunteer, and donate. Lastly, it will support the organization’s placement incentives; small grants that are offered to rescue partners to cover the costs of caring for medically urgent or harder-to-place animals, or during extreme capacity crises. ACCT Philly's foster and rescue programs have already proven to be life-changing for the animals in their care. 15 percent more animals were placed into foster care in 2023 than then previous year, and the organization is on track to place even more into foster care in 2024. In addition, thanks to the dedication of foster families and rescue partners, the organization has successfully avoided euthanizing healthy and adoptable cats due to space constraints for several years. With the support of the Foxwynd Foundation and the community, ACCT Philly aims to achieve the same for their growing dog population.

Over two years ago, Eva disappeared from her owner's front yard.?? Her owners took all the right steps–they searched local shelters, filed a lost pet report, and called the microchip company alerting them that Eva went missing. Sadly they had no luck. Then, just a few days ago on September 1st, Eva came into our shelter as a stray??. After scanning her for a microchip, and retrieving her owner information, our Community Support team contacted her owner and let them know that Eva had been brought into our shelter as a stray. Her owner was overjoyed with the news and they were eagerly coming to bring her back home. ???? Eva is an important reminder to microchip your pet and if your pet goes missing to file a lost pet report, check local shelters, and to alert the microchip company. It is also an important reminder if you find a stray pet or even if you’ve purchased a pet, to have them scanned for a microchip and file a found pet report if the animal was stray. ?? Whenever you find or lose a pet????, we always recommend these steps (view more on our lost pets page here https://bit.ly/3HutHV3): ??Checking with neighbors and in neighborhood groups like Nextdoor ??Filing a lost pet report (if you lost your pet) with Petco Love Lost here: https://bit.ly/3XtgO6n ??Filing a found pet report (if you found a pet) with Petco Love lost here: https://bit.ly/3ZbLomy ??Posting on local FB groups and checking Lost and Found Pets, Philadelphia - Powered by ACCT Philly

We were thrilled to be invited to the High Point Sunday Market yesterday at High Point Cafe in the West Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia yesterday! We had a great time and it seemed like everyone who came to the market wanted to greet us and pet our #adoptable dogs. The dogs all had a blast. Many thanks to the organizers for including us.

Will you help us save lives??? Over the next 7 days, we need your help to find 75 animals foster homes for a month! Fostering animals like Brad Pittie, who due to lack of space, is one of the next dogs to be timestamped (and would love a foster home!), but you can help prevent that by fostering, which frees up critical space and gives more animals more time to find homes. Thanks to Little Hunter, fosters will receive a supply kit ??of food, toys, a crate, litterbox, litter and more to help care for their foster pets. At the end of the month-long effort, they will receive $100 for fostering a cat or a cage of kittens??, or $200 for fostering a dog ??. And on August 10th, we'll be hosting a huge in store adoption event with PetSmart Charities to help these and other animals find homes. ?? ??To sign up to become a foster: ??Fill out an application for fostering dogs: https://lnkd.in/dTd_8zZz ??Fill out an application for fostering cats: https://lnkd.in/d9uAgrFX ??How to help if you can’t foster: ??Learn more and sign up to volunteer at the shelter: https://bit.ly/3xZjFKr ??Spread the word about Foster Frenzy and the adoption event in community groups and among friends! ??Making a donation to help this and other efforts to save more lives here: https://bit.ly/3W4VTEU
