Meet?Trevor?Cook, a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering student at Washington State University and summer intern with #ACCOESSeattle. After connecting with ACCO at a career fair,?Trevor?joined as a Project Engineer intern. His favorite part of the internship was working closely on major data center projects in Seattle. He thrived in the dynamic construction environment, enjoying hands-on problem-solving and new challenges, from takeoffs to estimating labor costs. He recounts that the biggest takeaway from his internship is the importance of being proactive, especially in the construction industry, where success hinges on careful planning and staying ahead of schedule. Being proactive is crucial, from securing work through persistent bidding to managing factors like equipment lead times, labor hours, and fluctuating material costs. Thanks for spending the summer with us,?Trevor! We can’t wait to see where your future takes you in the industry! #TeamACCOES

Recently, Women in Construction, a Bay Area SMACNA Mission Partner (#WIC) organized an insightful training session on Bias and Belonging at ACCO’s San Leandro office. The event kicked off with a networking social hosted by Bay Area SMACNA, offering professionals in the #SheetMetal and #Construction industries a chance to connect. This was followed by an engaging seminar that focused on Implicit Bias and the subconscious perceptions we may have based on appearance, especially in the workplace. The discussion prompted many attendees to share their own experiences, highlighting the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive community within their teams. A big thank you to SMACNA for creating a space that encouraged meaningful conversations and growth. As a dedicated Bay Area SMACNA Mission Partner, #WomenInConstruction remains committed to providing educational, networking, and resource opportunities for both women and men in the sheet metal and construction industry.

Meet Zachary Cobos, a Mechanical Engineering student at Arizona State University with a passion for construction, which he grew up around. His internship with #ACCOESArizona deepened his appreciation for #mechanical construction. Zach enjoyed working on progress tracking, fieldwork, and creating a system to log torque specifications using the HyTorc digital tool. Witnessing large-scale hydronic systems in action, such as the installation of chilled water risers and chillers, gave him valuable insights into the intricate planning and execution required for data center operations. Zach was also recently nominated as the founding president of the Arizona Mechanical Contractors Association (#AMCA) Student Chapter at #ASU. This opportunity allows him to inspire fellow students to explore the world of mechanical construction. Zach’s dedication and passion for learning make him a valuable member of the ACCO team. We look forward to seeing where his journey in mechanical construction takes him! #TeamACCOES

ACCO recently had a blast participating in the ISPE Annual Fun Day at the beautiful Chardonnay Golf Club in Napa, California!?As a proud Golf Sponsor, #TeamACCOES brought some extra fun to the course with our Olympic-themed booth, where golfers could "go for the gold" by tackling trivia questions about the Summer Olympics and cooling off with some ice-cold drinks. It was fantastic to reconnect with familiar faces and make new industry friends at this fun event.
