Had the opportunity to attend an incredibly insightful and knowledge-driven workshop on “Inclusive Digital Futures: Shaping an Accessible Digital World” by Rohan M. from Access For ALL at Pune Design Week, organized by Association of Designers of India. This year’s theme, "Mind the World" perfectly resonated with the discussion—reminding us that design is not just about aesthetics but about responsibility. Accessibility isn’t an afterthought—it’s a necessity. Rohan covered: ? Key accessibility laws (WCAG, ADA, Section 508, EN 301 549) ? A high-level checklist for designers: ?? Perceivable: Alt text, color contrast, text alternatives ?? Operable: Keyboard accessibility, clear focus indicators ?? Understandable: Simple language, clear navigation ?? Robust: Assistive tech compatibility, semantic HTML ?? "When we design for accessibility, we design for everyone." – A statement that truly resonated. A huge thank you to Association of Designers of India and Pune Design Festival for bringing such crucial conversations to the forefront. Let’s continue shaping a more inclusive digital world while keeping the world in mind. ??? #MindTheWorld #Accessibility #InclusiveDesign #UXDesign #DigitalInclusion #PuneDesignWeek #PuneDesignFestival2025 #AssociationofDesignersofIndia

Glad you loved it!
For the first time ever, we got an opportunity to ensure Spoken Fest was made truly accessible and inclusive, being an Accessibility Partner! A special thanks to Kommune team and Roshan Abbas for letting us with this opportunity. Together, we're breaking barriers and setting benchmarks ensuring everyone can join in the celebration of words, stories, and creativity. ????From interpreting Gulzar sahab's life changing creative process description, to Shankar Mahadevan's Breathless, our Sign Language Interpreters were in spotlight at the fest! This continued with other renowned artists performing at the "Mehfil". ? Our on-ground PwD Assistance team was serving the community with a Smile at the fest right from assistance at the entry to smooth exits. The reserved seating for Persons with Disabilities added to the joy and comfort. Team Access For ALL introduced the audience with Pronouns tag which they could put up as a part of "Pronoun awareness". We conclude the fest taking inspiration to continue setting standards in the Indian industry ensuring those are designed accessible and inclusive for every individual attending the fest! Saturday at India Art Fair: It was a pleasure to meet with colleagues from BluePrint.12 (https://blueprint12.com) and to collect the catalogue of Youdisthir Maharjan, which is beautifully designed. It includes an essay of mine, ‘Beyond Words (Research Notes on Youdhisthir Maharjan).’ (I am grateful to Amit Kumar Jain for reaching out for the commission). The essay is a re-imagining of Barthes’ ‘From Work to Text’, which I felt fitting, given how Maharjan’s artworks are ‘deeply rooted in language, blending reclaimed materials and text through a labor-intensive, repetitive, and autopoietic process to generate new meanings’ (https://lnkd.in/ekbDqqEd). I also attended a lively workshop at the India Art Fair #InclusionLab, ‘PastForward: AI Mythical Mammal Mural’. Seeking to bridge the gap between cave drawings and generative artificial intelligence, participants were invited to create mythical animals inspired by AI generated images on their phones.?The project is a collaboration of Access For ALL (https://lnkd.in/e7jHWAQG) and Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (https://www.knma.in). I am keen to find out more from the organisers in due course (not least my own interest in mythologies and AI: https://structuralism.ai).
