Disability inclusion isn’t about achieving perfection—it’s about listening, learning, and taking action. When people with disabilities share their challenges, we need to listen and believe them. No “Yeah, but…” just a solid “I hear you!” Get to know the accessibility gaps in our communities and involve disabled voices in designing solutions. Think of it as the ultimate collaboration—like assembling IKEA furniture together, but with fewer leftover parts! Teach kids about disability and diversity early on. After all, they might as well learn that everyone’s a little different—just like their taste in snacks. And remember to amplify the voices of disabled individuals in media and society. We need to see more than just superhero stories about disability. Let’s give everyone the spotlight they deserve! Above all, be kind, respectful, and open. Disability isn’t a tragedy or an inspiration—it’s just part of the human experience. So, let’s celebrate people as they are because everyone adds value, even if they sometimes leave the toilet seat up. ????https://lnkd.in/gupgdDyW #DisabilityInclusion #ProgressNotPerfection #DisabilityRights

First off, if you’re still holding onto those outdated stereotypes, it’s time to let them go! Disabled folks are the most diverse group around—there’s no ‘one size fits all’ here. Ever find yourself squinting to read tiny, cramped text? Imagine if that was every website you visited. ???? Improving text readability isn’t just helpful for some—it’s a win for everyone. Here’s how: ? ???????????? ??????????: Using a minimum of 16px makes text clearer and easier to read across devices. ? ?????????? ??????????????: Adding space between lines and paragraphs reduces eye strain, making the content feel open and inviting. ? ??????????, ???????????? ????????????: Uncluttered layouts help readers focus on what matters most—your message. Give these tweaks a try and let your words reach more people, more effectively. ??? ?? Want to advance ADA compliance in your company? We recently did an accessibility audit for Peerfocus, working with the fine folks at AccessAbility Officer. It's been a great learning experience for our team, and we're grateful to have had this opportunity to make our platform work better for more people! We've been hard at work implementing the recommended improvements, and I hope to have some metrics to share with y'all soon once we retest. Big thanks to Tanner Gers and Heather Burns @ AAO, and to Chris Evans for leading up the remediation work internally!

Here’s a little reminder: just because you live with a disability doesn’t mean you owe anyone an explanation about your life. Seriously! Think of it this way: if someone asks you for a detailed breakdown of your morning coffee routine, would you feel obligated to share every step? (Spoiler alert: you shouldn’t!) Your journey is yours to share, and it’s perfectly okay to keep some parts private. Let’s embrace the idea that your worth isn't defined by how much you explain yourself to others. So, the next time someone pries, just smile and say, “That’s a story for another day!” ????https://lnkd.in/gupgdDyW #DisabilityAwareness #YourStoryYourChoice #BoundariesMatter #KeepItPrivate #Empowerment

Let’s discuss the crucial role developers play in web accessibility—because creating a seamless online experience is no small feat! So, who are these professionals? Developers, including Front-End and Back-End specialists, are the architects of our web applications, expertly using HTML, CSS, and scripting languages to build user-friendly platforms. Their responsibilities are extensive and vital. They construct site frameworks, develop accessible controls for forms and videos, ensure a consistent tab order (because we want users navigating like pros), and integrate helpful widgets. Plus, they prioritize keyboard functionality by eliminating barriers faster than you can say “accessibility.” But here’s the kicker: web accessibility isn’t just on developers! Content creators share this responsibility too. Small adjustments—like clear page titles, thoughtful color choices, alt text for images, and closed captions—can elevate a site from good to truly accessible. Got questions or want to share your own experiences in this arena? Drop them in the comments! And don’t forget to save this post for easy reference—because even the best developers appreciate a little reminder now and then! ????https://lnkd.in/gupgdDyW #WebAccessibility #DeveloperResponsibility #InclusiveDesign #UserExperience #AccessibilityMatters
