On 26-27 February, the event will once again see Excel London transformed into a vast and vibrant platform for showcasing ground-breaking technology and game-changing solutions, launching pan-industry initiatives and gaining insight from leading event professionals. In this edition, we hear from event professionals who will be discussing key initiatives at EPS. Among them are two seasoned even professionals who are set on bringing their combined 80-years of experience in the industry to bear to make major events significantly safer. Expert witnesses in the Astroworld Festival court case, security experts Steve Allen FdA MIFireE FIIRSM RSP and Dr Mark Hamilton are launching The Showstop? Procedure Course. The duo will launch outline full details of the initiative at EPS. Another EPS conference speaker, Andrew Lansley provides an update on the progress and impact of the Green Events Code of Practice (GECOP). We also detail who and what is involved in the AAA 100; a community of 100 of the most prominent and influential senior leadership figures from across the live events sector. Among the many other features in the latest edition of AAA is a piece exploring the changing European festival landscape. Organisers of some of Europe’s biggest festivals, including YOUROPE chair Christof Huber, reveal the many challenges facing the European festival industry and the steps being made to address them. Among the key issues is a significant political move to the right in many countries that is leaving libertarian festival operators in a difficult position. ?? Last night, we won Best Events Venue of the year at the Access All Areas Magazine Event Production awards. A huge achievement. Recognition is also about impact. As a charity, every pound Alexandra Palace and Park earns is reinvested into this iconic building and our Creative Learning programmes. This week, I had the privilege of personally awarding Best Author & Book to The Island at the Edge of Night by Lucy Strange at Biblio Buzz, part of our mission to ignite young creative minds through literature. Here’s to all Team Ally Pally for winning Best Venue by delivering 150 incredible events, live experiences, and festivals across the Park and Palace each year. Not only do we host these unforgettable moments, but we also curate, produce & promote many of them ourselves. ??

Great to see the team at the Royal Albert Hall get behind Neurodiversity Celebration Week. They have released a film featuring participants in the RAH Creatives scheme for autistic adults, sharing some of their personal experiences in a creative workshop. London-based All Things Considered (ATC)? Group has promoted Ric Salmon to the newly created position of chief growth officer. ATC said Salmon will play a key role in the independent company’s global expansion plans for its burgeoning multi-service model by securing new acquisitions and partnerships. ? This week on LiveWire... Many of the leading figures in the private security industry have signed a letter sent to the Home Secretary and the Minister for Security calling on Government to implement business licensing. The letter states that the existing framework, which mandates licensing for individual security operatives, leaves businesses largely unregulated and that as a result an estimated 12,000 security supply businesses remain untraceable by key government agencies. The signatories state that the current framework creates vulnerabilities that facilitate exploitation, tax evasion, and even infiltration by organised crime. In other news, Live Nation Entertainment’s attempt to reduce the US Department of Justice’s antitrust case against the live entertainment giant has been quashed by a US federal judge. AEG Presents has hired former Swansea Building Society Arena venue director Lisa Mart, Robert Smith will curate next year’s run of Teenage Cancer Trust shows at the Royal Albert Hall, and Edition Capital has acquired events insurance broker Sebastian Mclean International. Edition Capital has acquired Sebastian Mclean International Limited (SMI); a specialist insurance brokerage serving the entertainment sector. Edition said its purchase of SMI, which delivers bespoke insurance solutions to a range of major entertainment industry clients ranging from BAFTA to Hungary’s Sziget Festival (cap. 95,000), will enable it to expand its offering by integrating specialist insurance brokerage into its existing suite of venture capital investment, corporate finance, and advisory services.
