Happy Black History Month Riverbats! Career services would like to take the time to highlight one of our own staff! ?? Today we are celebrating Joshua Carrierre. Joshua is an Employer Relations & Job Development Coordinator. He graduated from Sam Houston state University with a bachelors of science in psychology & criminal justice. We asked Joshua what his proudest moment in his career thus far, and what advice do you have for the younger black generation as they navigate their career path? Heres what he had to say: “Being recognized as one of Child Protective Services Caseworks of the Year in?2019 for the Central Texas region. It let me know that my work and sacrifices were being recognized. Also, I was making a difference with the families I worked with over the years.” He also said, “Networking is one of the most uncomfortable things for some people, but it is a vehicle that can lead you to paths you never thought you would be on.” Thank you for the work that you do Joshua! we are honored to celebrate you, and all you’ve done for your community! ?????????? #careerservices #BHM #careerready #Employerrealtions #networking

Mayberry, MBA She works for UFCU as a Sr. Business Development Manager. She graduated from Texas A&M University – Kingsville, with multiple degrees; Bachelor’s Major – Communication; Double Minor – Business Administration & Sociology. Master’s – Business Administration. We asked Cynthia what her proudest moment in her career thus far, and what advice do you have for the younger black generation as they navigate their career path? Heres what she had to say: “After over 30+ years in the not-for-profit sector of Higher Education & Finance, it has been deeply rewarding to have had a profound impact on the financial and educational trajectory of those I had the honor to serve. Each position of my work journey has unveiled a unique opportunity to build relationships, serve, and positively impact lives. I could not be prouder!” She also said, “Face each day with confidence in your abilities, prepared for challenges, and with a positive attitude. You are not responsible for the behavior or attitudes of others, but you are responsible for how you react. Dress up, show up, and look up. Remember you have worked hard to build and ascend the ladder to your personal success… always be willing to help someone else build their ladder. No matter what you face, NEVER GIVE UP! Regroup, prepare, and try again, and again, and again!
