Join film critic and historian Marya E. Gates for a signing of her book Cinema Her Way: Visionary Female Directors in Their Own Words. Gates’ book celebrates women directors and their contributions to cinema. The book includes in-depth conversations with directors about their filmmaking processes and their journeys in the film industry. Authors Ira M. Resnick and Raissa Breta?a join the Academy Museum on Sunday, March 9th for a book signing and conversation to discuss their new book Moxie: The Daring Women of Classic Hollywood. The book profiles 15 leading ladies during the studio system, a period from the 1920s to the 1950s when a small number of companies dominated the production and distribution of films in America.
