ACADEMY SITREP – ISRAEL RESUMES STRIKES IN GAZA March 18, 2025 | https://lnkd.in/evk7AnXf What has Happened: -Earlier this morning, Israel launched a series of attacks against Hamas targets across the Gaza Strip, killing more than 400 people. -Netanyahu ordered the strikes after Hamas failed to release additional hostages or accept the U.S. proposal for extending the ceasefire. -Hamas has refused to release additional hostages until Israel promises to permanently end the war (a deal that Israel would not make unless Hamas agreed to give up power). -However, the decision to focus on airstrikes as opposed to a ground operation at this time gives Hamas another opportunity to come back to the table and agree on a deal to release more hostages. -In the event that a ground operation becomes necessary, the IDF has ordered people to evacuate eastern Gaza, including much of the northern town of Beit Hanoun, and other communities in the south. -The strikes in Gaza followed three days of U.S. airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen, and Trump threatened Iran yesterday over its support for the Houthis and vowed to hold them responsible for further attacks in the Red Sea. ACADEMY SITREP – U.S. CONDUCTS LARGE-SCALE STRIKES IN YEMEN March 15, 2025 | https://lnkd.in/e6RDZCSP What has Happened: -Earlier today, the U.S. carried out significant military strikes on dozens of Houthi targets in Yemen. -U.S. air and naval assets in the region hit Houthi radars, air defenses, missiles, and drone systems in an effort to help secure critical international shipping lanes and send a message to the Houthis and their backers in Iran. -Since October 2023, Houthi rebels have attacked more than 100 merchant vessels and warships in the Red Sea with hundreds of missiles, drones, and speedboats. -While the Houthi attacks mostly stopped after the ceasefire was reached in Gaza, they have vowed to resume strikes against Israel and recently fired a surface-to-air missile at a U.S. F-16 (in addition to U.S. Reaper drones). -The USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group, which includes three destroyers and one cruiser, was part of the operation in the Red Sea, and was joined by the USS Georgia, a cruise missile submarine also operating in the area. -President Trump has indicated that he would prefer to come to a deal with Iran to prevent it from acquiring a nuclear weapon, but has also left open the possibility of military action. Vice Admiral Timothy White Joins Academy Securities’ Advisory Board and Geopolitical Intelligence Group https://lnkd.in/g7Tv3ure Vice Admiral Timothy “T.J.” White retired from the United States Navy in 2020 after more than 30 years of distinguished service in cyber warfare, signals intelligence, and information operations. His final assignment was as the Commander of US Fleet Cyber Command/US 10th Fleet, where he led naval cyber operations and defended national security interests in the digital domain. Prior to this, he held several notable roles including the Commander of Cyber National Mission Force at US Cyber Command, the Director for Intelligence at US Indo-Pacific Command, and the Deputy Director of Tailored Access Operations at the National Security Agency.
