The Academic Data Science Alliance (ADSA) is a professional association for academic data science practitioners, educators, leaders, and academic-adjacent colleagues, who thoughtfully integrate data science best practices in higher education. Our members connect and share their data-intensive approaches and responsible applications in teaching and research. By sharing lessons learned and collaborating on research and training, our members help each other find the right path for their unique university or college environment. ADSA also supports and advocates for translational activities and partnerships across academia, other community organizations, foundations, and private and public sectors. ADSA emphasizes the value that all fields have to contribute to the development and evolution of data-driven research practices. By connecting data science communities across different domains, ADSA hopes to accelerate the advancement and uptake of data science innovation and best practices.

Third city / fourth conference this week spreading the word on #ChartTheCourse and K12 #DataScience #DataLiteracy framework creation. Huge thank you to Academic Data Science Alliance for the invitation, which represents the majority of higher-education data science programs around the country (2-year, undergrad, graduate all together). We had a great discussion on increasing coordination between #K12 #CommunityCollege and #HigherEd. A special shout out to Padmanabhan (Padhu) Seshaiyer for sharing the success story of Virginia DS, Rachel Saidi for demonstrating the ground-breaking work for DS at Montgomery College, and Amber Zavicar for ground-ing the higher-ed folks in the present realities of K12 students today. Good evening, LinkedIn!! For the past few days, I’ve been participating as an International THREADS Scholar in the Academic Data Science Alliance (ADSA) annual meeting hosted at the University of Michigan! Through the International THREADS Program, I will travel to Ghana this Spring break to collect independent data and use data science to support my senior thesis project. Through this ADSA meeting, I’ve gotten feedback from data science professionals and students on approaches to completing my research. I’ve also heard about many intricate research projects that are ongoing with the intention of making a better tomorrow. Thank you so much to the National Science Foundation (NSF) for funding the International THREADS Program and to the COAS Honors faculty (LaTanya Brown-Robertson, Ph.D., Andrea Calloway, Amy Yeboah Quarkume, Ph.D.) for giving me this opportunity!! ???? #COASHonors
