On this #GivingTuesday, we are looking forward. We have achieved significant advances and protections for health care since we started 8 years ago on an all volunteer basis, but we see new challenges, work, and goals in the upcoming year and are looking to expand our capacity. For this, we need your help and hope as you consider supporting nonprofits today, you will consider supporting us. We have big plans, see big needs in health care reform, and are ready to hit the ground running. Click here to make a donation on our behalf to our fiscal sponsor. Thank you! https://lnkd.in/gi5TCqZr

It has certainly been a week. But we have fought back before and we are ready to do it again to protect affordable health care access in this country. We are not going anywhere, and hope you will join us. Read our full statement at the link attached. https://lnkd.in/gvaVkEpz

Exciting news! CMS has officially released the negotiated rates for the ten costliest drugs in Medicare. We are seeing new prices ranging from 38% to 79% lower than the list price in 2023, providing needed relief for millions of older Americans and people with disabilities. Today’s announcement proves that when our policymakers are willing to stand up to big drug corporations, progress is possible. #PayLessForRx Read Families USA's statement: https://lnkd.in/gJUcyY73

If we all watched a little bit more South Park, the world would be a better place. Leave it to Trey Parker and Matt Stone to nail the American Healthcare System. If you haven't watched the latest 50 minute special on Paramount+ entitled "The End of Obesity", do yourself a favor and cancel your plans for tonight. It's a poignant commentary on the absurdity of healthcare system. A few of the issues they address: ?? The gap in access to care and medications between income classes. ??The bureaucracy patients face: "I already filled out this form at the other place!" ??The spider web of navigating "health" insurance. ??The relationship between the food industry and big pharma. Perhaps the best quote which summarizes our current state of affairs. Butters: "We've been out navigating the American health care system. I almost died." So let me ask all of you a question . . . why do we tolerate this? Why do we sit idle in a medical practice that provides a mediocre to poor patient experience? Why don't we create something better? Why do we allow the food industry to dictate our health? Why do we continue to think that having health insurance is a good thing? Why do we on one hand throw medications at obesity while normalizing it on the other when obesity is the #1 killer of Americans? South Park episodes are based on the absurd. The fact that they created a 50 minute special on the American Healthcare System should be our apocalyptic warning. Things are bad in healthcare. Really bad. #truthbomb #sadbuttrue #obesity #healthcare #physicians #patientsoverprofits

While we are working to pass universal health care, costs are out of control and a recent project from Center on Budget and Policy Priorities looked at ways to help control costs. https://lnkd.in/gQFKn82C

The #HealthcareProtectionAct has passed the Illinois House and has landed in the Senate! This bill would provide critical protections to Illinois healthcare consumers and patients, including eliminating the sale of #JunkInsurance. Please urge state Senators to support this bill! #Twill #ProtectOurCareIllinois
