Fear is costing us our future. While technology holds the power to transform our economy and lives, we often throttle technological breakthroughs before they can fulfill their life-changing potential. Fueled by a mix of cultural anxieties and policy challenges, this fear-based approach risks denying humans an abundant future. To overcome this, we must shift the popular narrative from pessimism to optimism. We must focus on the societal and policy barriers AI, energy, and other emerging technologies face. How will we do this? ?? Invest in talent development and talent assembly ?? Support a community of optimists, founders, and innovators ?? Shape public policies before emerging technologies go mainstream ?? Shift the popular narrative from pessimism to optimism How different would today’s discussions of AI be if we had started better conversations 10 years earlier? And how different will it be for other frontier technologies on the horizon? It’s time for everyone to see the good. Join our mailing list to stay in touch: https://lnkd.in/dkBDwPqr

AI policy isn’t new, but it’s never been more urgent. Neil Chilson joined the Federal Drive with Tom Temin to reflect on the evolution of AI—and warn against missteps that could hobble the industry. Full interview here: https://lnkd.in/gcP2mjsA

Stop deleting your digital life. You’ll regret it. Neil Chilson makes a bold case: “Be a data pack rat. Keep everything. Turn on location history, never clear your browser history, and back up old devices. The tools to make sense of your data are so close to being useful for everyone. People obsessed with deleting their digital trails will wake up one day and realize: they weren’t just hiding from others—they were erasing their past from themselves. It’s self-inflicted digital Alzheimer’s. In the future, preserving your digital life won’t just be about memory—it’ll be about opportunity. The past you kept might just be the future that moves you forward.”

I was profiled in POLITICO's Digital Future Daily this weekend. Read to learn why I think: - you should be a data packrat - AGI is overrated - Voting is best thought of as a chance for personal reflection Whole article here: https://lnkd.in/eBNwJWpG

I'm in the Washington Examiner today: "People voted for Trump because they’re fed up with years of regulation-induced stagnation and looming national decline. They’re looking for the next president, and leaders at every level, to unleash a future of abundance for all." https://lnkd.in/etC7AyW9

?? The AI Policy Maze in Real Time States are navigating their own paths on AI regulation—without a unified roadmap in sight. From “high-risk” systems to Hawaii’s “precautionary principle,” each state is defining AI differently. These distinctions matter, as they impact the development and deployment of this powerful technology. Six states now regulate what they call “high-risk” AI, but with varied definitions. Hawaii’s strict stance, for example, requires proof of safety before innovation can proceed, posing serious hurdles. Meanwhile, other states like Maryland leave definitions to the federal government, risking a one-size-fits-all approach. This patchwork of policies reflects the complexity of balancing innovation with caution. How we define and regulate “high-risk AI” will shape the future of tech across state lines. Next Friday, November 8 I will be speaking at a Faith and Law event on Capitol Hill about optimism, Christian faith, and technological progress. Here's the blurb: "Is it correct or even possible to be optimistic about our future given the rapid pace of technological change and all the challenges these developments bring? Along with technology, our modern society has reaped great abundance and stands to gain more, but Christians must also think about how to steward a materially abundant society. What could a radically abundant future look like, especially for our children, and how might it be achieved? How might Christians think about a future of radical abundance enabled by advances in AI, energy, and the policy and cultural frameworks that will enable these technologies?" These are the kinds of questions and topics that motivate me the most. Even better, I get to discuss these topics with the best interviewer I know, Rachel Barkley. I'm very grateful that the Abundance Institute has the opportunity to partner with Faith and Law on this event! I hope to see you there. https://lnkd.in/e2NXbSVp
