On November 7, the Zimbabwe Assistance Program in Malaria II (ZAPIM II) project, funded by USAID and the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative, hosted the SADC Malaria Day event in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Child Care to commemorate progress against #malaria in Zimbabwe. Abt is proud to contribute to this progress through ZAPIM II, working closely with the National Malaria Control Program to improve the quality of malaria case management and malaria in pregnancy, distribute insecticide-treated nets, and increase community health worker capacity to prevent and treat malaria.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program has provided targeted housing assistance and supportive services to veterans and veteran families since 2011 – also launching one of the first federal responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of a Technical Assistance Collaborative, we’ve supported data analysis and training to help SVFF program grantees better understand and adapt to the needs of the communities that they are serving. Abt is proud to have contributed to government efforts supporting U.S. veterans and military families: https://lnkd.in/exG4z_bm #MilitaryFamiliesMonth

We’re thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievements of the USAID Healthy Mother, Healthy Baby team in Tajikistan! They’re making strides in bridging the digital divide to deliver transformative, country-led health solutions. Learn more about their digital transformation journey and the emphasis on digital literacy at #GDHF2024: https://lnkd.in/eBJNVYGi
The digital landscape in Tajikistan is a work in progress. While the country has a predominantly young and eager population, access to technology and digital literacy remains a challenge, particularly in rural areas. Yet, this challenge also presents a unique opportunity—harnessing the potential of the IT sector to drive innovation, create jobs, and empower the next generation. Against this backdrop, the Regional TechJam Forum – 2024 took center stage last week, bringing together the brightest minds, innovators, and changemakers in Tajikistan’s IT sector. Since its inception in 2021, TechJam has been more than just a forum; it has become a platform for fostering collaboration, inspiring creativity, and advancing the nation’s digital agenda. The forum was a celebration of what’s possible when people come together to reimagine the future. USAID Mission Director John P. Riordan perfectly encapsulated this in his remarks: “We all recognize the critical role of IT development, particularly for countries like Tajikistan. As a nation with a predominantly young population, Tajikistan can greatly benefit from expanding its IT sector.” His words highlighted not only the potential of the IT sector but also the urgency to invest in the digital future of Tajikistan. One of the most inspiring moments for me was participating in the Gender Digital Divide panel discussion. Alongside Anzurat Kasimova, Nilufar Muradova, and Nushofarin Noziri, with the amazing Zaytuna Saydullaeva DS facilitating, we explored actionable ways to empower women in tech and ensure inclusivity in the digital economy. These conversations are critical for bridging gaps and building an IT sector that truly benefits everyone. Behind every great event, there’s a team working tirelessly to make it happen. A huge thank you to Ozodamo Faromuz and Farrukh Umarov for their incredible work behind the scenes. The TechJam Forum – 2024 was more than an event; it was a movement—a step forward toward a more connected, inclusive, and innovative Tajikistan. I’m proud to have been part of this transformative experience and excited to see how the seeds of collaboration and innovation planted here will grow in the years to come. We were proud to share the USAID Comprehensive Action for Climate Change Initiative's work to support Jamaica in advancing its climate policy and finance goals in this #COP29 session hosted by the NDC Partnership. ? Watch the recording here: https://lnkd.in/gGpscneV
Senior Project Director, USAID CACCI at Abt Associates; Lead Author, 5th US National Climate Assessment International Chapter; Co-Chair, SID-US Environment and Sustainability Working Group
With COP29 Azerbaijan coming to a close and negotiators struggling to find common ground on #climatefinance, it was encouraging to hear about real progress from the Blue Zone Pavilions. #CACCI supported the NDC Partnership's session 'Ambition into Reality: Lessons on Delivering Climate Action.' ? ? The Government of Jamaica’s Lead Negotiator Omar Alcock spoke about the real impact of increasing climate risks and how that has catalyzed public and private sector action, including USAID/Jamaica's support for energy policy reforms, new climate legislation, and the stand up of a Blue-Green Facility at the?Development Bank of Jamaica Limited. ? #CACCI’s Deputy Director John Heermans called out our support to actively mainstream and implement in a world where we are frequently guilty of being “policy champs and implementation chumps” ? The Government of Vietnam’s @Phan Th? Thu Thu? highlighted the new Decree on Direct Power Purchase Agreements (DPPA) that aims to transform Vietnam’s electricity sector and long-term energy security.
