Building strong partnerships across all aspects of the North American battery metals supply chain is imperative, and Argonne National Laboratory's ReCell Center’s Industry Collaboration Meeting supports national efforts to do just that. We were excited to join industry leaders to discuss the future of battery recycling and its critical role in our transition to electrification, ensuring America’s economic and technological edge, and strengthening national security efforts. By working with key stakeholders, ABTC is committed to advancing efficient recycling methods that will reduce reliance on raw materials and foster a sustainable supply chain. As Ryan Melsert, our CEO, said: “Coming here and meeting more people in the industry gives us an opportunity to be collaborative, share new ideas, and progress the state of the art in the industry.” https://lnkd.in/g8SeuBVW

We are excited to participate in Governor Lombardo’s Inaugural Nevada Lithium Summit and support #Nevada’s collaboration across sectors to sustainably and responsibly develop a complete economy built around the state’s lithium resources. In a plenary session today alongside industry leaders, ABTC’s director of technical programs Kris Gustafson will share success insights on our accelerated commercialization efforts highlighting how federal funding is advancing our critical minerals and recycling projects. Many thanks to our friends at Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED), Nevada Battery Coalition, University of Nevada, Reno, the Nevada State Growth Fund, and Governor Lombardo for continuing to harness and close the Nevada Lithium Loop. ?? ?? We are excited to share that we've been selected for another highly competitive U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) grant for $150M to be applied towards the construction of our second U.S. lithium-ion battery recycling facility. This second commercial-scale lithium-ion battery recycling facility is designed to process approximately 100,000 tonnes of battery materials per year from our battery manufacturer, automotive OEM, and community partners. To bring advanced battery technologies online and establish a commercial battery metals supply chain for North America, this project will leverage multiple partners including feedstock supplier and critical mineral product offtaker BASF Battery Materials, global engineering firm Siemens, the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research, the Argonne National Laboratory ReCell Center, the Argonne National Laboratory Sustainable Transportation Education & Partnerships department, and the South Carolina Electric Transportation Network. “We are extremely honored to be selected for this government investment to further expand our domestic battery recycling operations, and after having gone through nearly one-year of technical and economic evaluation, we appreciate the level of diligence that the government employed in making this decision,” stated ABTC CEO Ryan Melsert. “We are greatly appreciative of the confidence and support we have received from our partners throughout this process and are energized to move forward with our feedstock supply, product offtake, and strategic stakeholders in this critical expansion of our domestic capabilities.
Batteries ?? power so much of our everyday lives, from the phones in our hands to the cars we drive to the energy that powers our homes and businesses. Building a domestic supply chain for batteries is critical to ensuring a stable, reliable energy future for America. That is why @MESC-DOE is proud to announce over $3 billion for 25 projects across 14 states! These projects will help boost domestic production of advanced batteries and battery materials. This isn’t just good news for our day-to-day energy resilience—it’s also good for the American workforce. At full scale, these projects will generate 8,000 new construction jobs and over 4,000 new operating jobs. Now that’s how you (em)power the future!
