New #DysphagiaCourse / #dysphagiaCEUs: Holistic #Dysphagia Management for People with #HeadNeckCancer. (#HNC) Course Description: This is a joint presentation by an Otolaryngologist (Dr. Tanya Meyer) and a Speech Pathologist (Dr. Jan Carol Pryor). Many people diagnosed with HNC experience challenging obstacles during cancer treatment, shortly after surgery +/- radiation, and many years later. Historically, the medical rehabilitation model has focused on physical impairment. However, qualitative research with people with HNC has identified that dysphagia impacts more than physical function, compromising psychological and social health. Therefore, the aim of presentation is to provide ideas for a personalized approach to dysphagia management from an interdisciplinary perspective with the goal of positively impact #qualityoflife.
