The #AmericanRedCross declared a National Emergency last week with the blood supply dropping by more than 25% since July 1. High summer temperatures and #HurricaneDebby are creating a challenging environment to rebuild the nation’s blood supply. A single blood donation can save up to 3 lives, making every donor a true lifesaver. According to the American Red Cross, every 2 seconds someone in the US needs blood. If you are eligible, consider making regular blood donations. Your contribution can save lives. https://lnkd.in/e3x4YwH ?#AbramScientific is focused on making a difference with our point-of-care #CoagCare system, which is capable of generating complete viscoelastic curve and parameters in less than 5-10 minutes, providing near real-time information to manage and conserve blood during surgeries and critical care. https://lnkd.in/gnNDpxUM #PatientBloodManagement #PBM #DonateBlood #SaveLives #BloodDonation #BloodSupply #VEM #Viscoelastometry #Viscoelastic

June 14th is World Blood Donor Day! Established in 2004 by the World Health Organization (WHO), World Blood Donor Day was chosen to honor the birthday of Karl Landsteiner, the Austrian biologist and physician who discovered the ABO blood group system—a milestone in transfusion medicine. Blood is essential for treating patients during emergencies, surgeries, and for those with chronic illnesses. A single blood donation can save up to 3 lives, making every donor a true lifesaver. According to the American Red Cross, every 2 seconds someone in the US needs blood. Further, the American Red Cross declared emergency blood shortage as the number of US donors hit a 20-year low. Learn how CoagCare is trying to make a difference! https://lnkd.in/gnNDpxUM How You Can Make a Difference: Becoming a blood donor is a simple yet powerful way to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Here’s how you can get involved: 1. Donate Blood: If you are eligible, consider making regular blood donations. Your contribution can save lives. https://lnkd.in/e3x4YwH 2. Spread the Word: Share information about the importance of blood donation with your friends, family, and social networks. 3. Volunteer: Support blood donation drives and events in your community. 4. Advocate: Encourage local organizations and businesses to support blood donation initiatives. On this World Blood Donor Day, let's take a moment to thank the heroes among us—the blood donors. Their generosity and compassion make the world a healthier, safer place for everyone. Thank You, Blood Donors! #WorldBloodDonorDay #DonateBlood #SaveLives #BloodDonation #Healthcare #CommunitySupport #CoagCare #VEM #Viscoelastometry #Viscoelastic? #AbramScientific

“Where you live should not determine if you live after an injury.” Last night, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt featured a special investigation that shined a bright light on the lifesaving benefits of pre-hospital blood transfusion. The facts are clear: the faster a patient receives necessary care, the more likely they are to survive. One study found up to 5% increased odds of mortality for every minute of delay in access to blood. That’s why pre-hospital blood transfusion programs have been endorsed by a variety of national trauma and first responder organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, American College of Emergency Physicians, International Association of EMS Chiefs (IAEMSC), and National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP). Expanding access to pre-hospital blood transfusions will save lives. Yet, significant barriers stand in the way, including inadequate Medicare payments for blood used by Emergency Medical Services providers and inconsistent care due to differing state-based scope of practice requirements. But Congress can do something about it. Ask your members of Congress to make long-term reforms that would allow more patients to receive life-saving blood products before reaching a hospital: https://bit.ly/42XT2PZ #NationalTraumaAwarenessMonth
