Joining the Association of Black Nurse Faculty membership was one of the best decisions I have taken in my career and the nursing profession. I joined the Association last year June 2023. In this short period, with my colleagues, I have published in a nursing journal, submitted an R25 NIH grant, presented in an International nursing conference, accepted into the 2024 Leadership and Public Policy mentorship Fellowship program for one year. I couldn’t ask for more. I have found my voice and felt accepted as if my voice matters. I serve on the education as the co-chair and research committees. I thank all my mentors, especially Dr. Kechi who introduced me to ABNF. I am grateful and glad I listened to her. The fellowship program has been nothing but amazing. I see lots of opportunities in front of me. If you are a black nurse faculty out there especially an immigrant black nurse faculty like me come join us and grow yourself to be relevant in your career trajectory. Last month, we presented and had fun in Madrid Spain. Thank you!

Associate Professor, Dr. Katryna McCoy, from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, discussed the use of Social Cognitive Theory Framework to improve the retention of Black nurse scientists in Higher Education.

Dr. Natacha Pierre, Assistant Professor, University of Illinois Chicago College of Nursing presents a compelling thought on the integration of the National Health Curriculum in Colleges of Nursing, Pharmacy, and Medicine in the teaching of a new generation of HIV providers.

Energized and electric, Dr. Marilyn Harrington, University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing, discussed the impact of racism, implicit biases, and microaggressions on nursing education for the underrepresented.
