A new initiative in the UK is showing just how powerful inclusive design can be! Accessible QR codes on KitKat and Quality Street packs are helping blind and partially sighted shoppers access important product information, such as allergen details and dietary requirements—right from their smartphones. What makes this change so impactful? These enhanced QR codes work with existing apps commonly used by the blind and partially sighted community, meaning no new downloads are necessary. Once scanned, users receive information in a clear, structured format that works with screen readers and features large fonts for easy reading. ?????? ???? ??????????????: ? More than 2 million people in the UK live with sight loss, and they deserve equal access to the information they need when shopping. ? Accessible design ensures that everyone, regardless of ability, can make informed decisions about the products they purchase. ? This video shows a tactile paver that was installed incorrectly at the corner of a busy intersection. Did you know that tactile pavers are designed to be oriented in specific ways to effectively guide visually impaired individuals? As this video explains, when a tactile paver is installed incorrectly it can be extremely dangerous. Individuals with visual impairments rely on these pavers to lead them onto a safe path while crossing the street. They are also used to help people detect possibly hazardous areas such as railway platforms and staircases.
