Exciting news for the future of health! ?? We're excited to share that Holobiome has just closed a $9M Seed round. The team is building the world’s most comprehensive microbiome vault to unlock the power of our gut microbiota and translate groundbreaking science into products that can transform lives. What excites me most? Holobiome’s first target: the gut-brain axis, with a next-gen probiotic designed to impact mental health. The potential here is massive—imagine being able to influence conditions like depression through the microbiome. One of the biggest challenges in turning microbiome science into practical solutions is our inability to precisely alter or restore the gut microbiome due to a lack of the necessary tools and understanding. If you're missing key microbes, it’s extremely difficult to introduce them back into your system. Holobiome is addressing this head-on by developing precision products that can target and restore specific gut bacteria, offering a way to intentionally shape the microbiome for better health outcomes. Their platform could open doors for everything from consumer products to novel therapeutics, making meaningful impacts in stress, pain, and beyond. Able Partners is excited to partner with Philip Strandwitz and the Holobiome team on their innovative approach to rethinking gut health. Looking forward to seeing how this journey unfolds as they advance their lead program into human testing and expand their microbiome toolkit. ???? #Biotech #Microbiome #GutHealth #MentalHealth #Innovation Cc: Lisa Jacobs Blau, Alison Ryu, Claire Akkan

Congratulations to the ZBiotics team on their Series A raise ??
Very grateful and excited to share that we completed our Series A round earlier this year (see press release below)!? The whole team at ZBiotics has been working ridiculously hard to create incredible growth and success that put us in a great position to complete this raise!? We’re laying the foundation for an exciting new category of genetically engineered probiotics, and I’m so phenomenally excited about where we are and where we’re headed as a company. Thanks to the Series A, we’re in a strong position to continue growing the digital footprint of Pre-Alcohol, as well as launching that product into brick-and-mortar retail.? In addition, we’ll be gearing up to launch our second product (very soon!) and investing in an exciting pipeline of new products in development.? We’ll also be able to invest in international expansion, company culture initiatives, and more resources across the board!? Thank you sincerely to Spring Tide Capital for leading the round, and welcome to the team!? And also big thanks to Access Capital, Seamless Capital LP, Goat Rodeo Capital, Seaside Ventures, Siddhi Capital, Able Partners, Pure Ventures, Y Combinator, and all of our other investors – existing and new – who made this possible!? It’s an exciting time to be at ZBiotics!

As we focus on Connection & Community as a core vertical, we're increasingly aware of the unique challenges faced by Gen Z. Among those aged 18-24, 13% are "disengaged," meaning they're neither working nor in school. Additionally, 45% of people aged 18-29 still live at home. Four-year college enrollment has dropped by 8% in the last five years, and 55% of this generation expresses little interest in having children. The traditional path to independence looks different for Gen Z, highlighting a need for products and services that resonate with their values. If they're not meeting each other at work or school or focusing on raising families, we're keen to explore how this generation will build connection and community—whether through caring for pets and plants, spending disposable income in travel, or channeling their energy and resources into creating their ideal home environment. #genz #investingingenz

Our co-founders Amanda Eilian and Lisa Jacobs Blau attended the G9 Ventures Summit last week. Amanda moderated a panel on women's health and navigating hormonal shifts. There are over 55 million menopausal women in the U.S. today, with 6,000 women entering menopause every day, yet 80% of medical residents feel “barely comfortable” discussing or treating menopause. We're working to change that alongside innovators like Midi Health, Found, and Mary Claire Haver, MD ?.

As more people use GLP-1s for weight loss, we're thinking a lot about side effects. We're particularly interested in solutions to complement GLP-1s, such as products that support muscle mass or behavioral health. If you're doing work in this space, what other wraparound services are you thinking about? ?? #HealthTech #Innovation #SustainableHealth #GLP1 https://lnkd.in/ej95g89u

I've been doing research at Able Partners into the decline in attendance of four year colleges to understand the implications of this trend and investable areas of opportunity. One surprising finding? It's largely men driving the drop in enrollment. Women's enrollment rates in college continue to go up, while the number of men attending and graduating from college drops each year. Are you doing work in this space? I'd love to chat.
