October marks National Disability Employment Awareness Month (#NDEAM), a time to recognize the vital contributions of workers with disabilities, past and present. This year’s theme, “Access to Good Jobs for All,” highlights the transformative power of employment. Good jobs change lives, and every worker—including those with disabilities—deserves the opportunity to prepare for, secure, and thrive in them. At Ability KC, we are committed to breaking down barriers and ensuring equal access to meaningful work for all. Join us in celebrating the resilience and achievements of individuals with disabilities as we build a more inclusive workforce. #AbilityKC #NDEAM2024?#AccessToGoodJobsforAll

Recently, Ability KC was thrilled to partner with the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) to host an engaging Happy Hour Networking and CEU Event! Local case managers had the opportunity to hear from Ability KC’s expert speakers on enriched task-specific training, self-management techniques, and strategies for overcoming barriers in the chronic phase of stroke recovery. It was a wonderful evening of collaboration, learning about outpatient rehab and stroke recovery, and earning valuable CEUs. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a success! #AbilityKC

Our 5th annual Professional Development Day last Friday provided a fantastic opportunity for our team to grow through learning, self-care, and meaningful connections. We deeply appreciate everyone’s involvement, made possible by our dedicated culture committee, inspiring speakers, and generous community partners. Ability KC remains committed to investing in our organization’s culture. This year’s development included insightful topics such as trauma-informed care, conflict competency within teams, resilience, and balancing security with innovation in new technology. We extend our gratitude to everyone who made this PD Day a success, including our key speakers for their engaging presentations, and our community partners and businesses who contributed to the health and happiness of our staff. Special thanks to Allison EuDaly, Lisa Daberkow Stalp, Bryan Zouiden, Well-Rounded Events KC, Sweet Daddy Corn and many more! #abilitykc #professionaldevelopment #investinginstaff #enhancingexpertise

At this year's Ability Luncheon, we had the privilege of sharing remarkable stories of determination and success, including Brandi’s. After enduring a spinal cord injury, she turned to Ability KC, where the specialized resources and innovative treatments made all the difference in her recovery. With the support of her dedicated therapists, Brandi went from using a wheelchair to walking 10 feet on her first day and thrived in our Return-to-Work program. Now back at work full-time and looking ahead to a bright future, Ability KC is proud to share her story during Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month and continue supporting her journey and achievements. Ability KC is always honored to join other leaders in the community to network, learn and innovate, and was pleased to recently participate in a CIO Exchange Round Table, hosted by EFM Events and Caymus Partners. Our Chief Impact Officer, Janet Padley, enjoyed connecting with approximately 50 other executive leaders from various industries across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Iowa and South Dakota, to share information and discuss strategies around AI. The insights and connections made are invaluable to our ongoing efforts at Ability KC. We were also so grateful that Ability KC was highlighted at the event and presented with a generous $5,000 donation from EFM! A huge thank you to Gary Peyton, President of EFM, and Darci Crow and the team over at Caymus Partners for their incredible support and for being champions of Ability KC and our mission. Your contribution will significantly impact our programs and services, helping us continue to empower thousands of individuals with disabilities. Together, we are making a difference. Thank you for being part of this journey! #AbilityKC?#CIOExchange?#Support?#CommunityImpact?#NonprofitSupport
