关于我们
ABFE is a membership-based philanthropic organization that advocates for responsive and transformative investments in Black communities. Partnering with foundations, nonprofits and individuals, ABFE provides its members with professional development and technical assistance resources that further the philanthropic sector’s connection and responsiveness to issues of equity, diversity and inclusion. Established in 1971 as the Association of Black Foundation Executives, the organization was credited with many of philanthropy’s early gains in diversity. It since has evolved into an influential network. In 2013, the organization shed its descriptor and adopted the simpler ABFE (ab-fee) to better reflect its broadening membership. It is with great sadness that we honor the life and legacy of?Gladys Krigger Washington, a true pillar of strength, wisdom, and giant in the philanthropic sector. As the 2015 recipient of ABFE’s James A. Joseph Lecturer Award, Gladys’ transformative leadership in Southern philanthropy touched countless lives. Her unwavering commitment to social justice, particularly in the South, and her dedication to lifting communities out of poverty, embodied the very essence of ABFE’s mission. Gladys’ legacy is one of fearless advocacy, deep integrity, and a passion for uplifting others that has and will forever continue to inspire us. Her light will forever shine through the countless lives she touched, and her unwavering belief in justice will guide us all. Our hearts are with her family and loved ones during this time. Rest in power, Gladys. You will never be forgotten.
