“For us, interdisciplinarity is fundamental,” Cindy Anderson said. “We know that none of the massive sustainability challenges we face can be solved in isolation.” Thank you Engineering for One Planet, Cindy Anderson and The Lemelson Foundation's Cindy Pereira Cooper for your thought leadership on #GreenSkills, #GreenJobs and #GreeningJobs.
We face growing demands to respond to crises related to climate change, but we don’t have anywhere near the supply we need of students and employees trained to address climate and sustainability issues – especially in the field of engineering. A new article in University World News features Engineering for One Planet (EOP) as a vital solution to this problem. As part of a series on Education for Sustainable Development in partnership with ABET, the piece examines the work of EOP to transform higher education engineering programs to address key issues of social and environmental sustainability. It examines EOP’s beginnings as a joint project between The Lemelson Foundation and VentureWell and follows its evolution over the past seven years – from the co-development of the initiative’s cornerstone EOP Framework and teaching guides to EOP’s trailblazing Pilot Grantees, and new programs with ABET, American Society for Engineering Education, and the National Science Foundation (NSF) to scale up use of the Framework nationally. To see where EOP has been and where it’s going, read the full article here:? https://lnkd.in/ePthA7Hd University World News University of Maryland - A.
