We were so honored to receive the acknowledgement of being 2024’s “Best Weekend Getaway” from our friends at 605 Magazine. With their help, the rest of South Dakota and beyond gets to see our charming little Main Street district and the local member businesses we feature in our 605 Mag articles. In 2024, we featured TEN of our member businesses located downtown. Putting them in the pages of our state’s most well-known lifestyle publication was truly a treat for us. Our downtown district is a reflection of our community's pride, prosperity and investment – critical factors in business retention and recruitment efforts. The Aberdeen Downtown Association is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization devoted to creating a vital and inviting downtown district in Aberdeen, South Dakota. We serve as a mechanism to implement district-wide marketing, programs, events and projects for the benefit of all the businesses within it.

The Aberdeen Downtown Association , City of Aberdeen, Aberdeen, SD Police Department, and Aberdeen Fire Rescue are proud to announce a new partnership to establish our Downtown Improvement Crew! Our organizations have banded together to take measurable action on downtown Aberdeen issues and ideas that have been brought forth to us from community members. Together, we are building a game plan to identify needs, set immediate and future plans, and make our downtown district more safe, welcoming, and nice to look at! Our current action items include: - Parking improvements & updated signage - Alleyway safety and beautification - Building maintenance and safety We think education is always the best first step, so we will be conducting in-depth walkthroughs down Main Street over the next few months to learn and document what's working and what isn't. If you see a small crowd of people wandering around Main Street on April 15th looking up, down, and all around, don't be afraid to wave or come say hi to us! We are happy to chat with you and hear your feedback or ideas. If you are passionate about helping your neighbors and making downtown better, then we are peas in the same pod. ??
