Our department is happy to announce its role in AllPeopleBeHappy’s first university-community collaboration. In capstone projects facilitated by faculty member Travis Johnson, ETMAS students will collaborate directly with the Nido de Vida team in Ecuador to build an aquaponics system aimed at addressing food insecurity in the region. Yesterday, 12 ETMAS students as well as 4 faculty and staff toured the John Deere Davenport Works factory, where many large pieces of John Deere Construction & Forestry equipment are produced. Afterwards, they visited John Deere Headquarters in Moline, IL for a facility tour and dinner with executives. Today, they'll be visiting John Deere's Construction Equipment training site to learn about the latest technology and get a chance to operate the newest in construction equipment. We'd like to thank John Deere Construction & Forestry for hosting us and providing this experience for our ETMAS students!?

Last Friday's Awards Reception celebrated the outstanding achievements of our ABE community. We're incredibly grateful to all who attended and participated, making the event memorable. Congratulations to our award recipients, including Darryl Negangard; Dr. Hongxu Zhou; Dr. Zixin Wang; Ann-Perry Witmer, Ph.D.; Dr. Josie Rudolphi, Elizabeth Bruns, P.E.; Dr. Kuanchong (KC) Ting; and many others! Your dedication and achievements inspire us all.

Congratulations to graduate student Liam Reynolds, under advisor Dr. Paul Davidson. Liam took first prize for his poster, "Evaluation of Radish, Broccoli, and Lettuce Microgreens Irrigated with Hydrothermal Liquefaction Aqueous Phase" at the CEA Summit East Graduate Student Poster Competition!
