31 years....Leaves a Legacy. And Joe Manes, we are grateful for yours. It isn't about any big accounts he landed or tasks completed; it is all about his leadership and how, through every project or challenge, he taught many the values of humility, listening, using our words wisely, compassion, learning, support, resilience, and so much more. His legacy remains in the hands of those he mentored, the accounts he championed, and the countless ways he showed us excellence. Congratulations on a career well lived and a legacy well earned. After 31 years of service to ABD Direct's staff, clients, and the causes they work for, Partner Joe Manes is retiring and beginning a new chapter in his journey to make a difference in his community. This past month, we’ve hosted send-off parties for Joe in our Milwaukee and DC offices, where former colleagues and clients talked about the incredible impact he made on them. Many talked about Joe as a mentor who brought out the best in them. Others talked about his undeniable commitment to understanding and furthering the mission of his clients. At one gathering, we saw many of the direct mail pieces Joe had worked on laid across several tables. Seeing the breadth of causes he’d contributed to on behalf of organizations like Amnesty International, Giffords, Oxfam, Healthwell, and, in earlier days, MSF/Doctors Without Borders, National Audubon Society, and many more was truly incredible. Thanks for teaching us that words matter, Joe. We will miss you but are all counting on our paths crossing again many times in the months and years ahead.
