  • Attention Hoisting Machine Operators: Important Deadline Extension for Limited HMO License Training and Certification! The NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) has issued an important service notice for those seeking a Limited Hoisting Machine Operator (HMO) License for articulating boom cranes, mini cranes, or telehandlers. Here’s what you need to know: The deadline to submit your HMO License application remains November 6, 2024. However, recognizing the limited availability of the required 8-hour training course and national certification, the DOB is offering an extension for meeting these specific requirements. Key Points to Keep in Mind: - If you submit your application by November 6, 2024, you will have until May 6, 2025, to complete the 8-hour HMO licensing course and obtain the required national certification (like the NCCCO). - Applicants must upload a signed and notarized affidavit to the DOB NOW: Licensing system, affirming their commitment to complete the training and certification by May 6, 2025. - While waiting for your application to be processed, you may continue to operate the equipment covered under the license you’ve applied for, as long as all other qualifications are met. Important Reminder: Failing to complete the training and certification by the extended May 6, 2025, deadline will make your application ineligible under the alternate pathway, and a full reapplication will be necessary. ABCST is here to support you with the training and resources you need. Don’t delay—start preparing today! If you have questions or need guidance, feel free to reach out to our team at https://lnkd.in/e5ctSzMa. #HMO #NYCDOB #Extension #SafetyTraining #ABCST #AllBoroughConstruction #ConstructionSafety

  • I see you all know your fire extinguisher classifications! Option 3) Class C is, in fact, the correct answer! Class C Fires involve live/energized electrical equipment or anything that is plugged into an outlet. These specific fires require an agent that can break apart the elements that feed a fire: oxygen, heat, and fuel. This is where Class C fire extinguishers come in. Class C fire extinguishers are?specifically designed to safely combat electrical fires. They typically contain non-conductive extinguishing agents like carbon dioxide (CO2) or dry chemical powders that displace oxygen, suffocating the fire. They also suppress the fire’s heat because their discharge is very cold. The fire dies when the oxygen and fuel can no longer interact due to the chemicals introduced by a dry chemical extinguisher. Check out our new #TriviaTuesday poll up now!

Construction sites have unique fire risks, and being prepared with the right knowledge can make all the difference in an emergency. Knowing which fire extinguisher to use for different types of fires could be the difference between life and death. Electrical fires, in particular, require specific extinguishers to safely put out the flames without causing further hazards. ? Think you know which extinguisher should be used for electrical fires? Take a moment to test your fire safety knowledge with the poll below! ? Let’s keep safety top of mind and make sure our teams are ready for anything that comes their way! #ConstructionSafety #FireSafety #FireExtinguishers #SafetyFirst #ConstructionLife
