ABCCM - Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry

On March 15th, 2025, team members and volunteers from ABCCM’s Veterans Services of the Carolinas (VSC) ministry and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Community Engagement Team to begin clearing old encampments in Onslow County. It was awesome to have the Richlands United Pentecostal Church partner with us, generously providing a trailer, van, and volunteers to support the effort. Encampment cleanups play a vital role in restoring dignity and hope to our communities. Through these efforts, our Peer Support Specialists, Care Coordinators, Housing Team, and Community Partners collaborate to help the unsheltered access essential resources—including mental health care, substance use treatment, income assistance, housing and shelter, employment, medical and dental care, and health insurance.

This morning at Transformation Village, we hosted TrV Talks V - a time of learning, collaboration, and meaningful conversation around individuals experiencing homelessness and housing solutions in our community. We were honored to hear from Emily Ball, the City of Asheville’s Homeless Strategy Division Manager, and Meghan Moore from the START program, who both shared valuable insights into current challenges and innovative approaches to addressing homelessness in Asheville and beyond. At ABCCM, we’re proud to stand in the gap by providing emergency shelter, transitional housing, and wraparound support services for our most vulnerable neighbors. Whether through Transformation Village for women and children or Veterans Restoration Quarters for male Veterans, we believe transformation happens when community partners come together to care for those in need. Today, we had the privilege of joining the North Carolina Trucking Association for their NCTA Women in Trucking Summit 2025, and what an incredible day it was! These amazing women didn’t just come together to network and learn; they rolled up their sleeves and packed 200 healthy food boxes in record time to support families in need across our community. Their energy, teamwork, and passion for service show how much impact we can have when industries and communities come together to serve a greater purpose. This week, ABCCM had the privilege of hosting Secretary Reid Wilson from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, alongside an incredible team of AmeriCorps volunteers. Together, they rolled up their sleeves and packed 192 healthy food boxes for families in need across our community. At ABCCM each week, we provide essential support to over 750 families, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals and the resources needed to thrive. This vital work is only possible thanks to the dedication of community leaders, volunteers, and partners who share our commitment to serving those in need. We are deeply grateful for Secretary Wilson’s visit and the inspiring efforts of AmeriCorps.
