ABC7 is inviting young leaders ages 18 through 24 to participate in the station's Spring 2024 NextGen Youth Advisory Council. ABOUT THE COUNCIL ABC7’s goal is to help Build a Better Bay Area. NextGen advisors provide their invaluable input on ABC7's news coverage, bringing their unique experiences to the council. Each participant has the chance to share their opinions, contribute to story development, advocate for social change and inform the wider Bay Area on issues affecting their local communities. POTENTIAL OPPORTUNITIES Past cohorts have collaborated with ABC7 staff to produce videos and organize interview panels on topics of their choosing with a focus on the Bay Area. In addition to creating specialized content, participants may connect with assigned mentors in the ABC7 Bay Area office, explore media career paths and tour the ABC7 (KGO-TV) studio. QUALIFICATIONS - Ages 18 through 24 - Strong connections to the Bay Area - Passionate about authenticity in media - Ability to work well alongside other dedicated team members - Backgrounds in youth activism, journalism, media, graphic design, writing, political science, business administration, A.I., science, technology and more are welcome HOW TO APPLY Meetings are held twice a month via Zoom with opportunities for additional engagement, networking and collaboration. Participation is voluntary and unpaid.
