Productive weekend! Started Friday with Houston Reads Day in partnership with Literacy Now. This event helps fund their Reading Intervention program and also raides awareness on the literacy crisis affecting Houston’s youth. This year over 2,000 volunteers read more than 38,000 minutes and raised $3.5M to support struggling readers. Then on Saturday, it was time to Kick-Off Rodeo with the Houston Rodeo Parade. My role was Nat Sound, and boy I took my job seriously! We then had to move our production to Galveston, TX for the Knights of Momus parade. I was in charge of set design and queing the bands, and it was a blast! It was also Scott Sands last parade before his retirement, and it has been a pleasure and honor to learn from the best.

If there was an Oscar award for Best Supporting Team, then it would certainly go to Joshua Baranoff, Antonio Townsley, and all the people at Disney’s master control and network origination facility including Jim, Armando, Chris, and Cody. The military saying, “Proper Planning and Preparation Prevents Poor Performance” really shows during events like the Oscars and On The Red Carpet. Smooth show from a distribution standpoint, and only 20 minutes over! #oscars #tvproduction

Boots, beads, and double broadcasts! On Saturday, it was our honor to bring viewers the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Parade in the morning, and the Landry's Mardi Gras Parade at night! How lucky are we to live in a place that has so much to celebrate!

It was standing room only at ABC13 on Wednesday as we SURPRISED and honored our Anchor Emeritus Dave Ward on his recent induction into the Lone Star Emmy Gold Circle. Because the ceremony was in San Antonio, we wanted to bring all of Dave's closest friends and former co-workers together to celebrate his 50+ years at ABC13. Thank you to Mayor Whitmire for making February 26, 2025 Dave Ward Day in Houston!
