When you invest in healthcare workers, you invest in sustainability. We’re proud to collaborate with leaders in Tanzania to support the growth of emergency medicine in the region.
Sustainable impact takes more than bricks and mortar. For more than 20 years, Abbott has worked alongside the government of Tanzania to help strengthen healthcare and build stronger communities by investing in human capacity. ? In 2010, we worked with the Tanzanian government to open the first emergency department and emergency medicine residency program in East Africa. Today, the partnership has trained more than 6,000 providers and provided care for 1.3 million. At this year’s #Concordia24, I had the privilege to sit down with the global health leaders who made it happen: Dr. Hendry R Sawe, Dr. Juma Mfinanga, Dr. Catherine Shari, and Dr. Erasto Sylvanus from Tanzania – all graduates of the residency program. Together, we discussed how emergency medicine is saving lives – and how investing in health workers can transform healthcare. ? Thank you to my fellow panelists and a heartfelt thanks to our moderator, Teri Reynolds of the World Health Organization, for guiding such an impactful discussion. We’re excited to continue this important work together. ? For more on this work: https://lnkd.in/gWUH_vqd
