Intel has announced it will delay the construction of a chip factory in Magdeburg, Germany, for at least two years, citing financial challenges. The project, initially estimated at €30 billion, was set to create around 3,000 jobs, with the German government pledging €9.9 billion in state aid. This postponement is part of Intel's broader cost-saving initiative aimed at addressing losses and achieving $10 billion in savings. Intel's CEO, Pat Gelsinger, also revealed that a planned factory in Poland would be delayed, with production now expected in 2027 or 2028. Additionally, Intel announced a multi-year partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to co-invest in custom chip designs.
