ABA Works' director met with Dr. Liliana Mayo, director of the Ann Sullivan center, in Peru, to collaborate about the care for a little boy with ASD, located deep in the Amazon jungle. This will lay the cornerstones on how care can be funded and provided for children in remote areas. She showed our director the impressive work they accomplish at Ann Sullivan. Children with special needs, learn skills that are specifically needed in the environment where they grow up. For example, our client in the Amazon, learns how to wash his clothes at the river, but also learns how to attend class at his school. The center has monthly tele health parent training classes, were at least 500 parents consistently attend in. Parents are motivated for the care, and actively participate. Peruvian families often have to pay for the care themselves. Also, the Center has many examples how kids have been trained to get jobs later in adulthood, where they are able to provide for themselves and families.
