The mission of AASLH is to provide leadership and resources to help the history community thrive.
关于我们
AASLH is your home for history. We provide leadership and support for our members as they work tirelessly to preserve and interpret state and local history and make the past more meaningful to all Americans. On our website, you will find over 1000 searchable resources including books, white-papers, templates, and more. There, you can also read articles and news from our individual and institutional members. We offer courses and programs throughout the year for history professionals and organizations to learn and grow. Our workshops and classes are offered both in person and online. AASLH is also an advocacy group. We sponsor, advocate, and lobby on behalf of state and local history at the national level through strategic partnerships with several organizations. Not least, the Annual Meeting allows 1000 history professionals, volunteers, and enthusiasts to come together each year to share ideas and tactics. AASLH began in 1904, under the wing of the American Historical Association. Then called the Conference of State and Local Historical Societies, AASLH broke out on its own in December of 1940 to become the American Association for State and Local History. Now, 100 years after the first organization was created in support of the burgeoning field of state and local history, AASLH is still the only comprehensive national organization dedicated to the field at large. From its headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee, AASLH is proud to be a home for those who work and volunteer in the field of state and local history.
