California kids are experiencing a mental health crisis, and the numbers are astounding. In Congressional District 22, roughly 7 out of every 10 kids depend on Medi-Cal (California’s Medicaid program) as their only lifeline. Join the #FightForOurHealth coalition on THURSDAY 2/27 – we’re sending California Congress members an urgent message: stand up for kids by voting NO on Medi-Cal cuts. Call the number below to speak to your representative TODAY!

?? NEW DATA BRIEF ?? The Los Angeles Wildfires crisis presents an opportunity for advocates, service-providers, and decision-makers to rethink and strengthen emergency response strategies in order to build a more inclusive and equitable framework for disaster response. Key findings reveal that nearly 50,000 Asian Americans reside within the LA evacuation zones, with over 12,000 needing language assistance due to limited English proficiency (LEP). These language needs are part of a broader challenge in Los Angeles County, where over half a million Asian Americans are classified as LEP. Several groups have significantly higher rates— the highest being Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean Americans with each exceeding 45%, far greater than the county average of 36% among all Asians. This data brief is part of a research series (UCLA Asian American Studies Center, UCLA Center for Neighborhood Knowledge, UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Institute, and AAPI Equity Alliance) examining the impacts of the January 2025 wildfires on LA’s communities, paying particular attention to different racial and ethnic groups.
