Brian Ursino, AAMVA Vice President, Law Enforcement Programs and Services, and Tim Roufa, AAMVA Manager, Identity Management, attended the International Association of Chiefs of Police Mid-Year Meetings in Orlando, Florida. Brian delivered a plenary address to state and local police leaders from across the United States to educate them on AAMVA's License Plate Standard and the emergence of digital license plates. The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization developing model programs in motor vehicle administration, law enforcement and highway safety. The association also serves as an information clearinghouse in these areas, and acts as the international spokesman for these interests. Founded in 1933, AAMVA represents the state and provincial officials in the United States and Canada who administer and enforce motor vehicle laws. AAMVA’s programs encourage uniformity and reciprocity among the states and provinces. The association also serves as a liaison with other levels of government and the private sector. Its development and research activities provide guidelines for more effective public service. AAMVA’s membership includes associations, organizations and businesses that share an interest in the association’s goals.

The 2025 Workshop and Law Institute kicked off this morning with our Opening Session, with welcome remarks from AAMVA President & CEO Ian Grossman, AAMVA Chair Eric Jorgensen, and Director of the Driver License Division for the State of Utah Department of Public Safety Chris Caras. Chairs of the AAMVA Standing Committees gave updates on their activities over the past year, and gave a look at what’s ahead. #AAMVAWorkshop

Lori Daigle and Tim Roufa of the AAMVA Identity Management Programs and Services team traveled to Anchorage to receive the mDL public key from the Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles for inclusion in the AAMVA Digital Trust Service (DTS). Alaska becomes the sixth U.S. state to fully participate in the DTS. The addition of the largest U.S. state to the DTS signals the continued growth of the mDL ecosystem in North America and greatly increases the availability and usability of safes, secure, trusted, and interoperable digital credentials. #mDL #DTS #AAMVA #AlaskaDMV
