  • Since its inception just four years ago, our Youth Success Program has become a source of stability and community for the agency’s middle and high school students. Program Manager Michelle Pinto believes the reason an increasing number of students attend the weekly homework sessions and off campus outings is because the program feels like a “second home,” an environment they were empowered to cultivate together.

  • As our housing program for families who have the most barriers to stability, Project SAFE (Stable, Able, Family Environment) provides all family members with a wide variety of support services designed to aid them on their individual path to a more stable life. Last year, 37 of our 40 Project SAFE residents utilized at least one of the services included on the chart below, and 40% engaged with two or more of the resources.

Palm Beach County is facing a growing homeless crisis, with the latest 2024 count identifying over 2,100 homeless individuals—an increase of 300 compared to last year. The Senator Philip D. Lewis Homeless Resource Center serves as the central point of entry for families and individuals in need of housing assistance throughout the county. Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches, Inc. manages the Family Division of the Homeless Resource Center, guiding more than 500 families with children each year. Through this division, families receive a range of supportive services, including initial assessments, housing placements, and comprehensive case management to connect them with the most critical resources. For assistance from the Homeless Resource Center, call (561) 904-7900. #KingdomCharitableTrust #KCT #HomelessnessAwarenessMonth #EndHomelessness #AdoptAFamily #LewisCenter #HousingandShelter #Philanthropy #Community

  • Every family seeking services at the Philip D. Lewis Homeless Resource Center starts by meeting with our Diversion Team. Our staff aims to help each family quickly end their episode of homelessness without emergency shelter or costly housing resources. To date in 2024, the team has supported 31 households as they regained housing by moving in with family/friends, relocating to a more affordable county, or accessing move-in assistance through a community partner. Families without a viable diversion solution were connected with shelter and/or housing resources to end their homeless episode.

  • A survey of our clients revealed that “stigma” surrounding mental health counseling was the most common reason for not seeking therapy in the past. Other prominent barriers included time, cost, and navigation of the mental health system.? By providing mental health therapy to clients on-site on our Lake Worth campus, Program REACH family shelter, and the Homeless Resource Center, we are removing obstacles to help make therapy more accessible and less stigmatized for the parents and children we serve. As of our last report, 63% of clients who attended 3+ sessions were attending voluntary therapy for the first time.

  • According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition’s 2024 “Out of Reach” report, a single parent needs to earn $42.81/hour to afford fair market rent in Palm Beach County, making it the second most expensive housing market in the state.? Our Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSP2) provides 24 truly affordable rental units for low-income households who cannot keep up with the community’s exorbitant rental rates. With rent for the two- and three-bedroom units ranging from $700-$800, low-income families can comfortably manage their rent payment and all other household bills, which enables them to maintain long-term stability and pursue their goals.
