If you have visited or called us here at the food bank, you've likely spoken to Katie, our employee of the month for October. She's been fielding a ton of holiday questions and welcoming our volunteers, food drive donors, and other visitors, while helping out with tracking data and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. We're all lucky to have her!

A big shoutout to the Midshipman Action Group from the Naval Academy! The food they donated will head out to our pantry network and provide around 9,000 meals; the diapers and other supplies will go to our baby and senior pantry partners; and all items will be distributed through our Mobile Pantry Program as well! Thank you MAG and all of the USNA midshipmen for your commitment to service and our community!

We'll be at the Deale Library on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 3-5pm. with our mobile food pantry. Come by and see us at 5940 Deale Churchton Rd. and bring a shopping bag!

Last weekend, our Severn Clubhouse hosted its second fall food pantry, sponsored by the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. A huge thanks to Live! Casino & Hotel and their Local Development Council. We were one of the nonprofits granted local impact grant funds from the Live! Casino and Hotel video lottery terminals. We were awarded more than $500,000 to purchase food and baby supplies for partners operating within the three-mile radius around the casino including the client-choice farmer’s market at Van Bokkelen ES. The funds will also support the Backpack Buddies locations and mobile pantry distributions near the casino.

This week marks the first anniversary of our Mobile Food Pantry, and it’s hard to believe a year has passed. It’s also hard to believe that it has delivered food for more than 1,600 households in that time. More than 7,000 people! The MFP carries around 3,000 pounds of food at a time, which allows us to serve up healthy food to those who need it anywhere in Anne Arundel County. Thanks to our partners for providing sites and other services for our neighbors who need them, to our great volunteers, and to everyone who has come out to see us. Staffers Amanda and Keiry are training a new crop of volunteers here today, so you may be seeing their friendly faces at our distribution locations soon!
