?? Today is #NationalRuralHealthDay, highlighting the unique healthcare challenges facing rural communities. As the most accessible healthcare provider, #pharmacists are often crucial to filling gaps in healthcare for rural patients, from medication counseling to monitoring blood pressure; testing, treating and immunizing for infectious diseases; and more. Throughout the week, AACP has been showcasing efforts from schools and colleges of pharmacy across the country to address #RuralHealth disparities in their communities, and to educate future pharmacists in the skills required to do so. See our latest LinkedIn article below for stories from Ohio Northern University, East Tennessee State University, University of Illinois Chicago, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and more, and visit our Instagram for additional posts throughout the day. #NationalRuralHealthDay2024 | #PharmacyEducation | #PharmacySchool

Yesterday, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Minority Faculty SIG for American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) at THM24, and I’m still buzzing with energy and inspiration! ???? Our session was more than just a meeting; it was a meaningful hour of fellowship. Connecting with like-minded peers, sharing stories, and brainstorming about the future of our SIG and its role in AACP was incredibly fulfilling. ??? As I step into this community, I’m committed to contributing to the SIG’s mission and, importantly, serving as a mentor to junior faculty. Together, we can build a stronger, more impactful SIG and make a difference in our field. ???? Here’s to collaboration, growth, and excellence! ?? #THM24 #MinorityFacultySIG #AACP #Mentorship #Community #ProfessionalGrowth

"As an aspiring #pharmacy administrator, my goals are to enhance health system pharmacy services for everyone, provide outpatient medication support to underinsured populations, and unite in service with interprofessional teams. Undoubtedly, this award will be a stepping stone to success in those career goals." ICYMI: Congratulations to Savannah Miller and the 6 other recipients of the 2024 Walmart Health Equity Scholarship for Pharmacy Students! The award is given in recognition of their leadership, academic success, and commitment to serving rural or medically underserved patient populations upon graduation.
I am extremely honored to share that I have been selected as one of seven recipients of the 2024 American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and Walmart Health Equity Scholarship for Pharmacy Students! This scholarship honors pharmacy students from medically underserved communities committed to advancing health equity. As an aspiring pharmacy administrator, my goals are to enhance health system pharmacy services for everyone, provide outpatient medication support to underinsured populations, and unite in service with interprofessional teams. Undoubtedly, this award will be a stepping stone to success in those career goals. It is an incredible privilege to represent Appalachian professional students, my home in Southeastern Kentucky, and the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy as a recipient of this national scholarship. I am grateful to have spent my childhood in an Appalachian community where humility and empathy are inherent. This achievement would not have been possible without the invaluable experiences gained through my internship in Community-based Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (CPAL) at UNC Health and volunteering at Student Health Action Coalition (SHAC) Clinic, UNC’s free, student-led primary care clinic. These opportunities have allowed me to make a difference in patients’ lives as a student and live out my passion for improving access to pharmacy services. I am especially proud to be part of a PharmD program not only dedicated to excellence, but to our patients in the Triangle area and beyond. Thank you, Walmart and AACP, for this special honor during my third and final year in the didactic curriculum at ESOP! This is truly a milestone in my pharmacy education I will never forget. https://lnkd.in/gaJCMKqh

?? New from AACP: A grant writing program *for* pharmacy faculty, developed *by* pharmacy faculty! This 8-month, virtual program is intended for faculty ready to begin preparing to submit their first large #research or research career development grant proposal. Through expert and peer support, learning modules and grant-writing examples from pharmacy faculty, the goal of the program is for participants to have a grant application ready for submission to their funder of choice at completion of the program. Pharmacy faculty in any discipline who are engaged in research but have not yet been awarded a significant external award (e.g., an NIH R01) are invited to participate; and participants do not need to be individual members of AACP. Early-bird registration rates end Dec. 15. #PharmacyEducation | #Grants | #GrantWriting | #PharmacyResearch
