  • Yesterday, our Health Center and Advocacy Team, alongside our CEO Sarita Kohli and other health leaders, participated in a press conference in Santa Clara County hosted by Community Health Partnership. The event highlighted the importance of community members to continue to seek healthcare at our community centers and enroll in programs like Medi-Cal, despite any fear they may feel based on the recent elections. Together, we remain dedicated to ensuring access to healthcare services for all, no matter the challenges our communities face. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us in advocating for health equity and ensuring our communities feel safe seeking the care they deserve. ?? • Thanks to Gilbane for their incredible generosity and unwavering support! This week, Gilbane presented a $10,000 check to AACI’s President and CEO, a gift pledged during our special 50th Anniversary Better Together Gala 2024. This generous donation was raised during the Gilbane Cares 2024 Charity Golf Tournament, with AACI chosen as the beneficiary. Following the check presentation, Gilbane toured AACI’s Moorpark facilities and saw firsthand the impact of their support on our programs and services. ?? Our partnership with Gilbane began a year ago when their AAPI ERG joined our Holiday Drive to create inspiring wish cards for our youth clients. Since then, Gilbane has supported our Back-to-School Drive and therapy kit-making activities, helping uplift vulnerable community members, especially the youth. We are so grateful for Gilbane’s commitment to making a difference and are excited about what the future holds as we work together to serve those most in need. ?? • You helped change Ja'nai and her son's lives. Now you can help another! ?? ? Before coming to AACI, Ja’nai struggled to make ends meet and battled depression as a single mother. ?Left with no other options, she turned to the County’s CalWORKs program for financial assistance and AACI Behavioral Health for mental health counseling. Through our holistic care approach, Ja’nai and her son were also able to receive dental care at AACI Family Dentistry. With both her mental and physical health being cared for at AACI, Ja’nai began to finally feel a sense of security and stability! ??? Thanks to YOU, Ja’nai and her son were able to receive the care that they needed from AACI to regain their sense of well-being, strength, and stability. YOU can help more individuals like them smile brighter today! Ja’nai’s struggles are not unique. There are countless families who face overwhelming challenges every day and they, too, need someone to listen to, guide, and offer them the care they so desperately deserve.? ? ?? • Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance that honors and highlights the memories of those who have lost their lives because of anti-transgender violence and hate. In 1998, Rita Hester, a transgender woman, was murdered as a result of a violent hate act against the transgender community. A transgender advocate, Gwendolyn Ann Smith, recognized that the media rarely covers transgender losses due to violence and hate and saw a need to raise awareness around the topic, leading to the creation of Transgender Day of Remembrance in 1999. Transgender Day of Remembrance is a reminder of how essential it is to support and celebrate the lives of transgender people in our communities. AACI opens its doors to everyone, and we are constantly working to improve our primary care, behavioral health, and wellness services for members of the LGBTQ+ community. ?? AACI is thrilled to be selected as one of Bank of America's #NeighborhoodBuilders grantees this year. These funds will be supporting AACI Asian Women’s Home, emergency shelter and housing for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. As well as access to a year-long Neighborhood Builders Leadership Program. Thank you to amazing partners like Raquel González, Nancy Lau and Linda Lentz for championing our work and to our fabulous Board Chair, Arturo Cazares for representing AACI at the award event. ?? Did you know that many survivors face homelessness when they flee abusive homes? In Santa Clara County a staggering 41% of women with children experiencing homelessness report violence as being the primary cause, while 39% return to an unsafe home because they have nowhere else to go. Last year our shelter fielded over 3,500 calls through our 24-hour emergency hotline and provided nearly 3,000 nights of safe housing through our shelter and via vetted hoteling partners. These funds will allow us to meet the growing needs in our county. We are grateful to Bank of America for supporting survivors - THANK YOU! ?? #aaci #bofa #bankofamerica #grant #thankyou
