Launched at COP27, the Accelerating to Zero (A2Z) Coalition builds off the momentous foundation of the “Zero Emission Vehicles Declaration” (ZEV Declaration) generated at COP26 by connecting the world’s leading stakeholders in zero-emission transportation. A2Z serves as a platform for signatories to coordinate, align activities, and amplify messaging as they fulfill their ambitious pledge to ensure all new car and van sales are zero emission by 2040 globally, and by 2035 in leading markets. The Accelerating to Zero Coalition is a collaboration of Ceres, Climate Group, Drive Electric Campaign, the Government of the United Kingdom, and the International Council on Clean Transportation.

At a trackside ceremony on the eve of the Formula E World Championship, the host City of Portland announced its signature to the #ZEVDeclaration and their commitment to phasing out the sale of fossil fuel vehicles by 2035. “Joining the ZEV Declaration is in direct alignment with the Portland ethos of protecting and preserving the environment," said Ted Wheeler, Mayor of Portland.
