Intentional Culture?? Effective, Respectful, Joyful, and Profitable Change ?? A2Agile.com

My Prediction: 2024 is the Year of Technical Debt Disasters AI, a tool which can make poor coders go significantly faster and seem more productive, will for most organizations simply be used to dig the technical debt hole they are in even faster... so fast that 2024 will be "The Year of Technical Debt Disasters." Going faster is NOT a win unless you already know what better also looks like... and most organizations truly don't! How are you planning to address the challenge of AI in 2024, where going faster may simply bury you in junk? Have any favorite strategies? #DiggingTheHoleWeAreStuckInFaster vs #UsingAIToClimbMountains Fortunately, there is a powerful solution to the challenge of how to best leverage AI, we call it #IntentionalCulture. It is our focus for our clients in 2024.

My phone knows I am limping... I am getting back into the habit of walking several miles a day and noticed I was not walking as straight as I would like. Sometimes when I stepped down on my right foot it felt a little unstable, and I was limping a little... Yesterday when looking at the number of steps I had taken during a mall walk I saw my iPhone had documented the strangeness of my walk and even gave me a limping score. I didn't realize my phone was tracking the stability of my gait. Health App Users... have you discovered your phone knowing more about you than you realized?

There is a reason it is dramatically easier to make progress with startup and small companies. :-)

The agile transformation journey is sometimes compared to climbing a mountain, an arduous ascent towards a peak of efficiency and success, with different 'camps' along the way. What goes unsaid is the composition of this metaphorical mountain, aptly named "Mount Ever-ist". It's not formed by rocks and earth, but by something far more daunting. Mount Everist is an amalgamation of countless lines of poorly written code, each line a testament to rushed deadlines and overlooked errors. These lines stack upon one another, forming a dangerous height everyone must navigate with caution. But the terrain of Mount Everist is build on far more than just code.... It's also made up of a labyrinth of HR and IT policies and procedures, a giant ice field which may collapse on your career at any moment consisting of new rules and guidelines. And, the mountain is made even higher by bad incentive systems. These systems create many false summits, an illusion of achievement where true progress is frequently punished not rewarded. Head toward to false summit or also risk your career. But that's not all. Mount Everist is comprised of outdated technologies, legacy systems that groan under the weight of modern demands. It is also consists of endless siloed departments, each operating in isolation. This lack of communication and collaboration forms deep crevasses that teams must bridge to move forward. And let’s not forget the endless meetings and emails, which form a thick fog over the mountain, obscuring vision and direction. Teams find themselves wandering aimlessly, losing sight of their goals. The peak of Mount Everist has been pushed to the heavens by the collective history of the organization, shaped by hundreds of policies and procedures, often implemented on whims in attempts to "make things better". This history overlooked the principles of systems theory, with no understanding of flow or alignment. It's a testament to years of decisions made in silos, without considering the holistic view of the organization. Climbing Mount Everist is not just a journey; it's a battle against the very fabric of the organization. It’s a realization that the mountain itself is the problem, not the solution. The true challenge lies not in reaching the summit, but in reshaping the mountain itself, perhaps even removing it. Chiseling away at the outdated practices, streamlining processes, and hoping to foster an environment where collaboration and efficiency can thrive. How successful do you think you will be reshaping Everist? The challenge is... people like their mountain.
