During the 2024 Biofreeze USA Pickleball National Championships, I had the honor of incorporating USA Pickleball Serves into the tournament and local community! From a Veterans Day Clinic, Celebrity Pickleball Match and launching a new grant program we are committed to growing and supporting the game of pickleball. My favorite moment was crossing the finish line for our inaugural pickleball court donation! It was a pleasure working with A New Leaf to unveil a new pickleball court, hosting a youth clinic and creating a connecting partnership with Prinx Chengshan Tire North America who donated 60 sets of brand-new tires to residents. A local nonprofit organization bringing the magic of theater to Arizona students who’ve never attended a live performance. Through this initiative, students are introduced to the world of performing arts, sparking creativity and expanding their horizons with a truly unforgettable experience. For many of these students, attending the theater is a rare opportunity that brings joy, excitement, and an inspiring look at storytelling through the arts. The nonprofit is committed to making theater accessible, providing an impactful introduction to cultural and artistic expression for youth across Arizona. By opening the doors to performing arts, this program is fostering new passions and helping young people feel connected to a vibrant cultural community. Experiencing theater in person can inspire creativity, build confidence, and encourage students to dream bigger. At A New Leaf, we celebrate and support initiatives like these that enhance opportunities for young people. A New Leaf was honored to attend the National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon, where leaders, organizations, and great thinkers from across the Valley gathered to celebrate the incredible impact of philanthropy on our community. A New Leaf was thrilled to nominate Bank of America for the Outstanding Corporation Leadership Award in recognition of their outstanding commitment to making a difference. In 2023 alone, Bank of America invested $3 million into the Phoenix community through grants, sponsorships, and volunteer support. Their focus on family stability, health access, and workforce development has been transformative, with programs like the Neighborhood Builders setting a national standard for nonprofit leadership and capacity-building. Since 2004, Bank of America has invested $8 million in 40 nonprofits in Phoenix, fueling pathways to economic mobility and uplifting underserved communities. Beyond their financial contributions, their employees lead by example—volunteering over 106,000 hours last year alone, with nearly 100 leaders serving on nonprofit boards. A New Leaf is incredibly grateful for their partnership and their impact on the lives of so many families in need. Thank you, Bank of America, for being a true force for good!

A New Leaf was honored to attend the 12% gaming grant luncheon hosted by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community! What a beautiful way to acknowledge the Community’s grantees and their work to meet the many needs of individuals and families in our state. A New Leaf is grateful for the continued partnership with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community to provide safe shelter, basic needs, and support services for adults and children experiencing homelessness and domestic violence, as well as other crisis situations. This year’s contribution is especially meaningful as A New Leaf continues to expand services that address the continued homelessness crisis in the Phoenix Metro area. Phoenix has an ongoing effort to encourage more landlords to participate in the low-income housing voucher program, an initiative that helps individuals and families access affordable housing in an increasingly competitive market. This program aims to bridge the gap for residents struggling to find stable housing by offering financial incentives to landlords who open their doors to voucher holders. As housing affordability challenges continue, this effort to expand available units is vital. By engaging landlords, Phoenix hopes to create more options for families and individuals who might otherwise face homelessness or prolonged instability. The program also addresses concerns from property owners, offering support and guidance to ease the administrative process of housing voucher tenants. The increased participation of landlords is a significant step toward ensuring that everyone in Phoenix has a safe, affordable place to call home. This collaboration between city officials and property owners can provide a lifeline for countless community members facing housing insecurity. It was a privilege to be Keynote Speaker for such a dedicated cohort! A New Leaf is grateful to our neighborhood Walmart for its support to provide safe shelter, basic necessities, and vital services for families facing homelessness, domestic violence, and other crises in Mesa. A New Leaf’s La Mesita Family Shelter not only offers refuge and essentials but also delivers comprehensive case management and wrap-around support services, empowering households to overcome obstacles, access resources, and pursue self-sufficiency, long-term stability, and well-being. AZ Family recently shared an inspiring story about 11-year-old Christian, an Arizona boy who founded a nonprofit to support individuals experiencing homelessness. Despite his young age, Christian recognized a need in his community and decided to take meaningful action by creating Christian’s Care Packages, a nonprofit aimed at providing essentials to those in need across the Valley. Christian’s organization distributes hygiene items, snacks, and other necessities, assembling care packages to bring comfort and support to the homeless population. His commitment to giving back at such a young age shines a light on the power of compassion and how one person’s initiative can impact many lives. This story is a testament to the importance of teaching empathy and civic responsibility from a young age.
