THE RULE ESTABLISHING THE CMMC PROGRAM IS PUBLISHED! ??This is the one we’ve all been waiting for, people. CMMC is 1,000% happening. Right now, they’ve released a 470 page pdf version before it goes live on the federal register on 10/15/24 ??Of note - the CMMC Program becomes EFFECTIVE 60 days after publication on federal register which would be Dec 14, 2024 (!!!) That's a schedule slip of less than a year off DoD's longest estimate, btw. Just 201 business days since the proposed rule was published. That's 29% faster than average for a DoD rule going back to 2009, btw. 6 years 9 months and 25 days since the deadline to implement the cybersecurity requirements in NIST SP 800-171 pursuant to DFARS contract clause 252.204-7012. Over 2,550 public comments since 2020. Now it's here. Arguably the single most monumental cyber assurance program in the history of the U.S. government. 470 pages. Over 130,000 words. Thanks to the Federal Register Act we only get a PDF until 10/15/2024 when the rule will be officially published so have fun with that over the holiday.
