Our structures team recently finished up the Little Sewickley Creek Bridge Project for Allegheny County ! We encountered some difficulties on the front end dealing with ground water and tough soil conditions, but we persevered to deliver the project on time and with the utmost quality. The project featured: -Demolition of the existing bridge structure -New Bridge Structure with 30 foot steel girders and structure mounted guiderail -Roadway restoration Thanks to our team members Italo Merante, P.E. and Eric Vunovic for heading up this project on the management side, and as always, our hardworking team in the field for getting the job done on time and safely!

We have recently rebranded here and will now go by Merante Contracting. The significance of dropping the "A." is that the second generation of the family has entered the picture as of 2022 so we wanted a name and logo that represents both our current reality as well as how we will excel into the future. We're excited to keep building with the great team we have and growing for many years to come. Also, check out our sweet new logo below!

Advanced Pipe Technologies continues to advance! ? APT started in 2004 as a division of Merante Contracting. As an established leader in public improvements throughout our Mid-Atlantic states, Merante Contracting recognized the need for quality water infrastructure solutions to address the region’s aging infrastructure. With that, Advanced Pipe Technologies was born. Offering a full scope of water main, storm, and sanitary pipe solutions, Advanced Pipe Technologies provides environmental trenchless rehabilitation. Our cutting-edge trenchless and no emission UV cured CIPP services limit the impact on the environment while increasing the life and efficiency of water, storm, and sanitary mains. We would like to recognize our team who just recently finished the Chestnut Street Brick Restoration Project for the City of Pittsburgh a month ahead of schedule and with high quality! We partnered up with the City of PGH to rebuild the historical Chestnut Street in the North Side of Pittsburgh. The project featured 2000 SY of 10" Concrete Paving Road Base and brick pavers, ~1000 SY of new sidewalk and 1585 LF of deep curb. The job was entirely self-performed outside of the line striping. Each brick was laid by our own crews and we can't thank them enough for their hard work and craftsmanship! Check out the photos for some before and after shots of the project!

At the beginning of this month, our team completed the Mt. Troy Lateral Support project for Allegheny County meeting the project deadline with a tight schedule. The project featured a 33-pile Soldier Beam and Lagging Wall, full depth road reconstruction and a new storm drainage system. We are proud of the work and effort our team continually puts forth and can not thank them enough!

This weekend we attended Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania Annual College Estimating Competition! Over the course of the last 6 months Italo Merante, P.E. partnered up with Brian Grayburn of PJ Dick/Trumbull to mentor a team of young Civil Engineers from Bucknell University, their alma mater. Bucknell's estimating team (The Bison Bidders) made a splash in the competition as Rookie of The Year and 2nd Place overall! There were 10 teams representing schools such as CMU, PITT, Penn State, WVU, UPJ, PSU Harrisburg. We're looking forward to what this team will bring to the table for years to come and fostering our commitment to the CAWP. Thanks to everyone who judged, organized, mentored, competed and attended!

Today our office celebrated the Holiday Season with our annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest and Potluck! Congrats to Aimee Parquette with our estimating team on taking home the gold! A.
