Lilly Lebetter inspired the #FairPayAct advocated for by 9to5. The legislation helped advance women toward #EqualPayForEqualWork. Lilly Ledbetter was a supervisor at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. when she received an anonymous note telling her the salaries of three male managers. It's back to school week for many in this nation and that means for many families, one of the most fun and joyful times of the year. For the caregivers in families, predominantly women, that may also create a different set of demands as they pour into their families while juggling jobs, activities, and the care of their families. Our strategic partner, 9to5 puts the focus on the needs of women and non-binary persons at the heart of their work. They have been instrumental in supporting community organizing, policy change, and ultimately building power to ensure the change that means support the total wellbeing of women and nonbinary people, so, in turn, the health and wellbeing of our nation is strong. I am grateful for Monica Hobbs Vinluan and her partnership with the 9to5 team, so that we are generating the demand for families to be at the decision-making table and not on it -- and to envision a future of self-determination that ensures that every family has the resources that enable a baseline of dignity for all.
