Listeners Community Radio of Utah | Music Discovery Community Amplified

关于我们

KRCL is a non-profit, community radio station that was started in 1979 with a different view, designed to unite people and build community through music and stories. KRCL was created to bridge divides with music and encourage listeners to support our community’s vast network of nonprofit organizations through enlightened and engaging inspirational and aspirational stories. Our large and passionate listenership illustrates the deep significance of music in our lives, and the growth of our membership is a testament to what our community is willing to support and sustain.

KRCL is on the verge of turning 45 years old, and we're ready to party! KRCL's 45th Anniversary Party is this Saturday, November 23 at The Commonwealth with live local bands, The Mellons, The Pranksters and Talia Keys & The Love. DJ Rockin' Robin will be spinning all vinyl and we'll have a pre-party "History of KRCL" Panel to dig into how independent media was created and continues to thrive here in Salt Lake City. https://lnkd.in/gsy3MXuj

KRCL is about to turn 45 years old in December and we're pretty excited about our event collaboration with Fisher Brewing! They've created a special KRCL Anniversary Ale, a dry hopped blonde ale brewed to celebrate KRCL's big birthday. The 16oz can labels were designed by Afternoon Delight host, Courtney Blair with a sweet retro design throwing back to 1979, the year KRCL was founded. It's a collaboration that tastes as good as it looks, and looks as good as KRCL sounds! We're throwing a Launch Party on Tues, Oct 15 at Fisher Brewing. Swing by and crack a cold one for community radio.

For 3 years, KRCL has dedicated August 1 to all Utah music - 801 Day (a nod to Utah's first area code). Because of KRCL's members and donors we have the freedom to showcase Utah's diverse music scene from Salt Lake to Provo, Ogden to Park City, Heber to Tooele. Tune in 801 Day on KRCL 90.9fm from 5am-7pm to hear the music of the Beehive State. Streaming from www.krcl.org + KRCL App.

The Salt Lake City Weekly just published their Local Music Issue shining a light on some amazing Utah musicians. Plus, they included KRCL with an in-depth interview with our Program Director and Afternoon Show host Ebay J Hamilton. We love independent media and local artists! It's just in time for the return of KRCL's Annual 801 Day (a nod to Utah's first area code), where we play all Utah music and all day long, on Thursday, Aug 1 from 5am-7pm. https://lnkd.in/g-FdQsTU

Yesterday was Loud and Clear Youth Radio's last day of class (for this group)! These Loudies have spent the last eight months being teen DJs and mouthpieces for Salt Lake City's youth on 90.9fm KRCL: from learning the fundamentals of running a radio show to playlist creation to cultivating a community both within their crew and with the good folks who tune into their show every Saturday night. We're gonna miss seeing their faces around the building and hearing their voices on the radio. But! With every end, there are new beginnings. We're getting ready to start recruiting for the next group of Loudies pretty soon. Stay tuned! If you or someone you know is a teen who loves DJing, is interested in radio, or wants to share their love of music, we hope to see them join the next crew of Loud & Clear Youth Radio. Okay, that's all. Thank you so much, Maggie, Kate, Luke, River, Leo, Rei, Cassie, and John, for sharing your stories, your voices, and your love of community radio with us and the listeners of KRCL. ??????

Every fall KRCL hosts the annual Record Sale to help power community radio. Generous listeners donate their loved, but neglected collections to be "adopted" by new music lovers. It's one of the many ways we connect people in person and bring the radio community together over a shared love of music discovery. Here are some scenes from 2023's Record Sale and Block Party. We can't wait for this year!
