???????? Yesterday we cut the ribbon on the first phase of?@8kcompany's Glenway Iliif project in West Price Hill. This project is a story of preservation and perseverance. These buildings faced demolition in 2019, the minority-owned businesses faced eviction in 2022 and the community faced the elimination of cherished local amenities. Through collaboration and a healthy amount of trust, the stakeholders and partners were able to preserve these community assets for years to come. The Department of Economic Inclusion is proud to recognize 8K Company as our January 2025 Business Enterprise of the Month! Beginning in 2009 with the purchase of a single-family home in Northside, 8K Company has grown from a two-person operation to a thriving construction, development, and property management company with 16 full-time employees. Under the leadership of Michael Chewning, Michael Fischer and Barrett McClish, the company has successfully renovated multiple historic buildings creating new affordable housing units across Cincinnati. In addition to their ongoing projects, 8K Company is proud to announce they recently celebrated a major milestone by closing on a $9 million project known as The Bridge in Evanston. This effort involves renovating three blighted buildings and delivering 27 affordable housing units, while also creating seven commercial spaces retaining long-term businesses and revitalizing the local business district in collaboration with the City, the Port, and the County. 8K Company has broadened their network through their SBE certification with the City, and has continued to utilizing the City's database to find other small, minority, and women-owned businesses to participate in the company's development projects. 8K Company credits their ongoing success to the strong community support they receive through their practice of listening and respecting the neighborhoods they serve. Congratulations to 8K Company on this achievement and we look forward to celebrating the company's future contributions to Cincinnati!

Cincinnati Development Fund’s Affordable Housing Leverage fund is a critical part of community development and affordable housing initiatives. Without their ability to “think outside the box” 8K’s most impactful projects would have never gotten off the ground. CDF was one of the first lenders to invest in 8K, and thanks to them, we have been able to grow our capabilities to continually - and responsibly - help our region grow.

A little late for year-end recaps, we know, but what’s one more? 2024 was a banner year for 8K. We completed a bunch of impactful projects and had fun while we did it! Check out some highlights from last year. Looking forward to an even better 2025! + The 8K Crew! + 1007 Dayton Street - 8 units of Affordable Housing with a future cafe in the works. + Broke ground on The Bridge - Evanston. 27 units of Affordable Housing, 5 commercial opportunities for small businesses and a 12 space parking lot. Completion: Q4 2025. + 8K’s first Findlay Market Opening Day Parade float! + Lydia’s House Expansion - Constructed a new addition that doubled the size of this Norwood, OH non-profit dedicated to Offering safe, stable and supportive housing to women and children in crisis and transition. + 56 E. McMicken - 13 units of mixed-income housing with a future artist studio and gallery coming soon! + Kennedy Heights Arts Center - We built this arts-based non-profit a new performance stage. + Volkshaus - Renovated this historic building into a coffee shop and community gathering space on McMicken Ave in OTR. + 4024 Glenway - 2 units of new housing along with 2 commercial spaces for existing, minority owned businesses: Tienda 3 Amigos (a grocery store) and Custom Cuts (a barber shop).

This fall, 8K celebrated the 5-year anniversaries of 3 key employees. Drew Chestnut, Matt Wiseman and Conor McCullough have each played a key role during a period of significant growth for the company. All that 8K has and will accomplish would not be possible without the contributions of dedicated employees like these three. This significant milestone is just the start of a great future with 8K.
