This week, we’re excited to highlight Rohan Freeman, founder of Freeman Companies, a Black-owned engineering and design firm dedicated to building stronger communities. Rohan’s mission is about more than structures—it’s about creating lasting legacies that uplift underserved environments. Through the Amazon A&E Program, Freeman Companies has embraced real-time collaboration and data-driven decision-making. Rohan shared, "One of the most impactful aspects of the program was its emphasis on real-time collaboration and data-driven decision-making. The ability to provide instant updates and insights has significantly improved how we make informed decisions and quickly adapt to changing conditions. The program’s tools have transformed our approach to project coordination, enhancing communication and alignment within our team. With a focus on social responsibility, Freeman Companies also supports community organizations and has established the Freeman Companies BRIDGE Endowed Engineering Scholarship at the University of Connecticut. Meet Josh Johnson, Director of Operations at 7 Summits Construction—a Hartford-based, minority-owned firm dedicated to building up communities through high-quality construction projects. Originally founded to support nonprofits in Hartford’s Northend, 7 Summits has expanded its impact, working with underserved neighborhoods and creating structures that leave a lasting legacy. Through the Amazon Accelerate and Empower Program, Josh has gained invaluable skills to support this mission. Today, we pause to honor the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of our veterans. ???? At 7 Summits Construction, we are proud to have veterans among us who exemplify the spirit of service every day. Special shoutout to our very own Piotr Wilk, a retired Senior Level operations manager from the U.S. Air Force. During his service, Piotr worked as a project manager on projects like the Stella Maris School Belize Academy for the Deaf as part of New Horizons Belize 2014, where U.S. service members helped construct five school buildings and one medical facility across Belize. This annual event brings together the U.S. and host nations, building bonds through shared training and dedication to community impact. Thank you to all veterans for your service. 7 Summits Construction had an incredible time at the "Whose Career Is It Anyway?" panel at Norwich Free Academy to give junior and senior students an inside look at construction and trade careers! Josh Johnson, our Director of Operations, and Brittany Clark, our Development Project Manager/Construction Manager, shared insights on the best (and toughest!) parts of the industry, what training it takes, and much more. The session, hosted in the beautiful Converse Art Gallery, wrapped up with a fun game where students guessed each panelist's career.
