A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our two-day inter-agency tabletop simulation exercise (TTX) on September 23-24, 2024! Together, we successfully tested early detection of zoonotic diseases, rapid notification, and response using the One Health approach and the 7-1-7 target. Over 40 participants from the World Health Organization, FAO, World Organisation for Animal Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, USAID, Resolve To Save Lives, 7-1-7 Alliance, and UK Health Security Agency came together in Geneva and remotely, offering invaluable insights and deep reflections that will further enhance the One Health approach. This TTX also featured the Reliability Game on a mysterious illness, facilitated by the Center for Advanced Preparedness and Threat Response Simulation (CAPTRS). The game focused on how different source factors influence situational assessment and situational awareness by analyzing belief shifts, reasoning patterns, and decision-making under uncertainty, while integrating cognitive and multidisciplinary sciences. After our Southeast Asia workshop last month, we recently supported a multi-country 7-1-7 workshop in Central America. National Epidemiology Directors and public health emergency experts from seven countries gathered in Guatemala to determine how they can best use the 7-1-7 target to improve outbreak detection and early response in their respective countries. The workshop was sponsored by the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization, and supported by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the #717Alliance, in partnership with USAID Guatemala and #SECOMISCA.

Among the many delegates I interacted with at the #WOHC2O24 during my presentations is Dr Saeed Ahmad A great conversation on how many other countries can use EAR with 7-1-7 target for performance improvement in outbreak response and public health systems strengthening. I strongly believe if we are to improve timely collaboration in a one health approach, EAR are key in every outbreak response and offers a great opportunity and platform to interrogate and strengthen one health in public health systems. Look out for more lessons and key take-aways I will share soon, among those I got from the #WOHC2024. #717Alliance #Globalhealth #Onehealth #WOHC2024 #Publichealth #SystemStrenghthening #Zambia #Capetown #SouthAfrica #Africa Dr Saeed Ahmad
