关于我们
Founded in 2005 by five longtime friends and colleagues in Los Angeles, 5+design is a creative architecture and planning practice with studios in Hollywood, Shanghai, and Dubai. We design places for people, from the scale of a room to a city. Encompassing retail, mixed-use, residential, and large-scale urban planning, our work addresses two contemporary needs: a strong desire for community, and connection to the greater world. Our projects act as frameworks for life's experiences, both local and global in nature. To succeed, our work must always allow room for others. This success is measured by how authentically our projects are tied to the context of their location. Through our close relationships with clients, consultants and collaborators, we are able to reach toward greater authenticity in everything we do.

Just as retail has long been the heart of urban pedestrian spaces, shaping the identity of cities throughout history, this dynamic continues to evolve today. BLVD, a collaboration between 5+design and 3 Egg Studio, captures this essence along the Vegas Strip, with 400,000 square feet of double-height premier street retail spanning over 700 feet. Extending from ground level to its vibrant rooftop, BLVD reimagines the retail experience while seamlessly contributing to the distinctive character of Las Vegas.

The Huaihai Road TOD project is progressing steadily, with scaffolding removed last weekend to reveal a completed double-layer curtain wall and facade lighting. Located at the intersection of Huaihai Road and Ruijin Road in Shanghai’s Huaihai Road Preservation Zone, the project enhances the urban landscape with a multi-level retail and entertainment complex, featuring a rooftop garden park built atop a transit center. Drawing inspiration from the historical Shanghainese Longtangs—neighborhoods of lane housing that once characterized the area during Shanghai's Golden Age—the project also prioritizes sustainability through design strategies that ensure long-term environmental and social resilience.

The Sino Ocean City Lane project is taking shape in Wuhan as construction continues on the ambitious architectural design and masterplan. The project is deeply rooted in Hanyang’s rich historical past. Drawing from the heritage of Chu culture in Hubei province, Sino Ocean City Lane reflects these influences in both its planning and architectural features. A key design achievement was the restoration of one of Wuhan’s historic cultural routes, featuring new buildings and pavilions that reconnect the Gui Yuan Temple to the river. ??: 涵轩看武汉

Recent site visit to Huaihai Road TOD reveals the project’s latest construction progress and facade development. Huaihai’s form and character draw heavily from the site’s historical community of the once abundant Shanghainese Longtangs. As such, a tripartite architectural design style, created during Shanghai’s Golden Age of Architecture or the Chinese Renaissance, was applied to organize the building’s facade, paying homage to the site’s historical importance. Huaihai Road TOD is on track for completion at the end of the year.
