We’re doing a series of focused design interventions at Plaza 66, a mixed-use center in Shanghai that is one of China’s top performing retail destinations.?(Kudos to KPF for the original design… it has stood the test of time very well.)?The first two interventions are now open… a Galleria on the third floor for smaller luxury retail and F&B tenants (including some of the best coffee in Shanghai), and a waiting room off the main circulation spine for visitors to the skincare and beauty tenants this room serves.?Last week this waiting room, called Beauty Avenue, won an IDA award for interior design… a nice surprise as it’s such a small space.?More surprises to come, hopefully! https://lnkd.in/gd73Sap2

Our second residential project in Dubai was announced this month – Crestlane CityWalk, for Meraas.?(Our first project – Bliss, for Emaar – was released during the pandemic and quickly sold out… it is nearing completion now.) Crestlane will greatly expand the residential offering at CityWalk, which is already one of the most desirable residential neighborhoods in the city.?Crestlane incorporates a wide variety of water elements into its planning, from lagoons to child pools, offering residents a harmonious blend of city energy and waterfront tranquility. 5+design provided the overall master planning and pre-concept design, and is continuing as design guardian as the first buildings are prepared for release. Opening in 2025... adaptive reuse (of the smaller building on the corner), integrated metro stop, accessible roof garden and terraces, on one of the busiest pedestrian streets in Shanghai. Can't wait!

A view of our LONGFENG project. Located at the intersection of Huaihai Road and Ruijin Road in Shanghai's Huaihai Road Preservation Zone, the project is steadily approaching its final phases of construction, with completion anticipated between the end of Q2 and the beginning of Q3. This development draws inspiration from the historical Shanghainese Longtangs—traditional lane neighborhoods that once characterized the area during Shanghai's Golden Age. The design incorporates elements reminiscent of Lilong or lane housing, extending the urban fabric of the existing community.?Additionally, the project emphasizes sustainability through design strategies aimed at ensuring long-term environmental and social resilience.

Construction is nearing completion on BLVD the innovative Gindi Capital project located on the iconic Las Vegas Strip, designed in collaboration with 5+design, 3Egg Studio, and executive architecture firm BWA. BLVD reimagines the traditional retail experience on the Strip, placing emphasis on creating a more intimate, human-scaled environment. Central to its design are public terraced spaces that offer sweeping views of the city, inviting guests to connect with the vibrant landmarks that define the Las Vegas Strip. This design creates an ideal setting for outdoor entertainment and offers an elevated dining experience, with rooftop food venues overlooking the vibrant energy of the street below.

A look at The Sino-Ocean Group CityLane Renewal project at 40% completion. Inspired by Hanyang’s rich history, CityLane introduces a design language that resonates throughout the masterplan and architectural features. The masterplan revitalizes the historic route by restoring its full length, integrating a series of new buildings and pavilions to reconnect Gui Yuan Temple with the river. Strategically placed towers to the north and south frame a sweeping view across the city, guiding the route from the urban core to the temple. The final 200 meters of West Hanyang Street will be extended across Parrot Road, curving naturally toward the temple gate. As construction progresses steadily, this ambitious renewal project continues to take shape, honoring the past while forging a modern identity.

Nanjing Yuhua MixC World recently celebrated its grand opening, marking the debut of a carefully crafted town center in the heart of a newly developed neighborhood. Seamlessly integrating commerce, leisure, and entertainment, Yuhua MixC serves as a vibrant hub for the growing community. Spanning six city blocks, the expansive project boasts exceptional connectivity, walkability, integrated public transit, and access to green spaces. Its diverse mix of building types—including office and residential towers interwoven with low- to mid-rise retail structures—contributes to the dynamic urban fabric of the neighborhood. With a focus on connection and inclusion, Yuhua MixC offers a wealth of diverse experiences and blended indoor - outdoor activities to further a holistic sense of community and social engagement.

We are excited to announce the public unveiling of MixC Baoshan, an innovative project located in the northern part of Shanghai. At the heart of Baoshan is an undulating park that weaves its way through the building mass, or the “Outer Shell,” carving upward as it ascends. This meandering park originates at River Park in the south, traveling through the complex toward the Commercial Center in the north.? With thoughtful integration, this development reimagines the relationship between architecture, space, nature, and urban living by seamlessly integrating multiple uses into a cohesive and vibrant environment.
